I've used several of these and they work great. Come pre-lined, and the power link alone is enough reason to go with SRAM over Shimano.

HG chains and "Z" chains, or anything else- won't work with IG sprockets and freewheels. Sram 850 and 950 chains do. Problem solved.

Comments about Sram Pc 850 8 Speed Chain:

Installation was literally a snap. Removing the old one (same chain, but with 2700 miles on it and ~1% "stretch") was also easy. I didn't realize the quicklink unlinked just as easily as it linked. I Never had any problem with the old chain, just got noisier and noisier as the stretch made it mesh incorrectly over time. I'm pretty sure I'll just go for the same one in another 2500 miles or so.

Comments about Sram Pc 850 8 Speed Chain:

This replaced a very worn chain of unknown origin. This one was so much quieter and shifts smoother, too. It comes with a very heavy duty grease on all inside & outside surfaces. It doesn't seem to pick up the usual raod schmutz and, 300 miles later, is still humming along smoothly.

The rest of my driveline is Shimano 105 from 1995.

Comments about Sram Pc 850 8 Speed Chain:

The Sram chain outlasts Nashbar's offering 2:1, and is less expensive than Shimano, which doesn't last that much longer than Sram but costs twice as much.

Keith Bontrager: "Strong, light, cheap: pick any 2."

Well, this chain is strong and inexpensive (not cheap). It's not for gram weenies. But it's an 8 speed chain, so it's not for the racing set anyways.

You could spend more, but I seriously doubt you get more. It is the very definition of value. I just wish all bicycle components offered the same value for the money.
