Nashbar Scratch Pedals
These bike pedals are perfect for cruisin' around town, hittin' the greenway or just burning a few calories on the trainer while you catch up on your TV drama. They've got the modern advantages of sealed bearings and lighter, more durable materials, but they still have that classic vintage look, so they won't kill the theme of your old-school road bike.

  • Anodized aluminum cage
  • CNC-machined chromoly spindle for durability

Hard to remove once on

      Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

Product is extremely hard to remove as there are no grips for the pedal wrench. Looks great- and functional-but almost a permanent fixture. Had to use a plumbing wrench to get them off once on.

        Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

I've had a pair of scratch pedals on my touring bike for the last 6 or 7 years. Many miles, no problems.

I've also got a pair on my road bike and after 5 years have developed a "click"

For the money you can't beat 'em.

            Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

I ride with toe clips and straps, and have used these pedals without issue on all my bikes for many years and thousands of miles. I just had to replace one set because it cracked when it hit a curb. These remind me of the road bike flat platform pedals I rode on in the 70's-80's. They actually look good on my classic 531 (and on my new road bike). As another reviewer noted, remember to twist the straps under the pedal, so the straps don't slide.)

              Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

Really liked them, but after about maybe 1200 miles the bearings in one wore out, constant clicking noise. I'm exchanging them, thanks to Nashbars great warranty.

Just got them today and installed them twice. Had to take them apart and swap the front platea to make them look like the photo. I will try them out tomorrow, but they are much smaller than I expected.

Put these on my wife's rec path bike. She likes toe clips, so these are a good pedal for the application. I noted that the sales description says OK to use on indoor trainer, but the included data sheet says not for use on any indoor equipment(?) Doesn't matter in our case.

                          Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

I have these on both my road bikes, with thousands of miles of use. Haven't had to replace a set yet. (And when they do wear out, they are inexpensive enough to replace.) The straps hold well. (Remember to give the straps a twist under the pedal when you install them, so that the straps don't slide.) I grew up with classic toe clips and straps, and these are do the job as well as pedals 30 years ago.

I bough four of these and after a few hundred miles, two pairs are already making a loud clicking noise from the bearings. These are suppose to be sealed bearings but it must be poor construction because it didn't take long before they were noisy. Do NOT buy! I will be sending all 4 pair back!
