Comments about Shimano M162 Mountain Shoes:

I use a 45 street shoes and have a recent pair of Shimano MTB shoes (45). These shoes(45) I could not get on my foot and looked smaller than 43"s by visual comparison. Soured me to attempting to buy online as it cost $7.00 for return and it was not an error of mine. I try to read if others found this shoe under or over sized and none indicated as such.

Comments about Shimano M162 Mountain Shoes:

Shoes were great upon arrival BUT they were marked 45's and fit closer to 42's. I have 43's that I were that are larger (broken in though). They are very narrow as well.
Interesting because I just bought a pair of Shimano CT70's and they fit as marked-45.

Comments about Shimano M162 Mountain Shoes:

These shoes are very comfortable and perform well on the trail. I use them for mountain biking and cyclocross racing. I did have an issue with them after 11 months - some fabric on the tongue started falling apart. Nashbar replaced them with a brand new pair, no questions asked.

I typically wear a size 12/13, depending on the style of shoe. I ordered a size 48 in these. They could be a hair tighter on my foot but overall I can't complain about the fit.

I use these for MTB, mainly singletrack. They are stiffer than my old shoes and that helps. So far, I really like them!

Comments about Shimano M162 Mountain Shoes:

I bought these while building a bike using a full suspension frame a friend donated to me when he upgraded. At the beginning of the season I found the soles on my old MTB shoes (another big name in bike equipment, not Shimano) were separating in the back and holding on by the cleats in front. Nothing else was wrong with them, so I glued those back on with Goo for a decent second pair and intend to use the Shimano M162s as a primary. Installing and centering the cleats on the M162s was easy and these come with sticker sheets to apply inside to keep the shoes water tight on the trail since the cleat holes are pretty open. That was a nice touch.

The first time I wore them was on my first 22 mile MTB ride of the season, and I didn't even think about them until I was about half way done and realized "I'm wearing new shoes, they should pinch, or hurt, or... something". They are so comfortable I had to remind myself I was wearing something new. Outstanding comfort. There wasn't any extra room, but they weren't tight at all. I wear Metric size 48, US size 13. The Shimano box said M 48, US 12.3. Maybe 12.3 is technically accurate, but these were just right and I'm a solid 13 medium, so don't go by the 12.3 on the box. They seemed closer to a 12.9.

The micro adjust ratchet straps were a big selling point. When they started to get popular on high end bike shoes I thought they were a great idea and decided to wait for affordable shoes with them. I chose these over cheaper shoes with the same features because they had great reviews. Now I see why. Highly recommended. The micro adjust also allows you to fine tune the fit while riding without even getting off the bike. You feet tend to swell a bit while exercising so you can start out a little loose, tighten up for the bulk of he ride and then loosen again at the end. The soles are comfortable walking in and aggressive enough for dirt when you have to get off the bike, but also allow easy clipping in and out of SPD type pedals. These are and all around great shoe for the money!

Comments about Shimano M162 Mountain Shoes:

Purchased for casual/fitness road bike use. I combine my cycling interest with photography. These shoes enable me to stop on rides and walk if needed to get the best shot. They are on the heavy side, but very well constructed. I wear a shoe size 10, which translates to a 44.5 but I'm wearing a size 45 (10.5) and are very comfortable and not too loose.

Comments about Shimano M162 Mountain Shoes:

I have been going back and forth between a shoe that looks like a skateboarder would wear, and shoe that a cross country racer would wear. This is a good alternative. Couldnt wear them with flat pedals, but I hardly do any riding that requires my flat pedals anymore. I have a wide foot so I usually have to wear a shoe a half a size bigger, these shoes are wide and very close to perfect fit. Got a great price at Nashbar.
