When Mr. G road his little heart out and became the Belgian national road race champion, he did it with his hooves sheathed in a pair of Northwave shoes. And it's no wonder. The Northwave Typhoon Evo road cycling shoes are light weight, highly breathable and have a power-enhancing fit that channels more of your pedaling power into forward motion for the bike. The national championships might not be on your horizon, but these shoes should definitely help you crush your next crit or group ride.
Carbon Composite Sole with fiberglass and carbon gives you an optimized mix of stiffness and low weight
Airflow System puts vents in the sole and breathable mesh on the side panels to channel fresh air around your entire foot
Microfiber and Air Mesh upper is durable, supportive and breathable
Performance Pro footbed has an antimicrobial treatment and a microfiber anatomical arch support to help you achieve the perfect fit for more effective power transfer
Omega Heel with a rigid profile offers excellent grip, protection and helps prevent your heel from slipping during max power output
3 hook and loop retention straps allows for a lightweight, precise, and stable fit that keeps your foot secure
This is my first pair of clip-in shoes, so I am not an expert. I bought these because the brand is known to be good for wide feet, and I found this to be true. Very comfortable, fits well, I did a 30 mile ride in them with no discomfort.
Only issue I had was that Nashbar's sizing chart did not match the manufacturer's, and so the first pair I received was about 2 sizes too big. Nashbar accomodated an exchange, but make sure you double-check that the sizing matches the manufacturer's chart.
