Comments about Lake CX175 Road Shoes:

Got these at an excellent price. Have never had road shoes before, but won a set of road pedals and decided to try them on the road bike that I do tri's and duathlons on from time to time. Love the way they lace up, very quick and easy to adjust even on the fly. Pretty light and the footbed is nice and stiff. Two races in and they seem to be holding up quite well.

Comments about Lake CX175 Road Shoes:

When I was looking for a new road shoe I wanted something that would fit well, be low cost, and good adjustability. I went with the lake's because they had the best sizing chart of any shoe brand, and their fit it spot on; I used their sizing chart on their website. one of the issues I was having with cycling shoes is that a 42 was just too small with brands like Shimano or Pearl Izumi my toes would just be touching the end of the shoe, and my previous shoe the Fizik M5 umo were a 43 and it was just slightly too loose. the lake 42.5s were a dead on fit for me.

As for quality of materials, they use some really tough materials very scratch resistant and they have a good overall feel of quality. The breathability of the shoe is good overall, they are not as good as my Fizik's but they are still quite good, my feet never get too hot.

Now on to comfort, and this is where the shoe falls off for me. I found that when I ratched the boa pretty much as tight as I can for the first hour I have no issues, but after an hour my feet can go numb. Typically I will just pop the boa and retighten the boa looser and the problem will go away; just be wary to not tighten too much. I found that running the boa a little looser than super tight did not affect the hold the shoe had on my feet though.

The only other thing I would point out is the fact there is no markings on the bottom of the shoe is pretty annoying. It can make adjusting the cleats a task, and there is really no reason why it should not have a grid, but for me this was not a deal breaker.

over all these lake does a great job when it comes to sizing the shoes, making them durable, offering boa on a low cost shoe, but they should have put a grid on the cleat area and over tightening can lead to a numb foot.

Comments about Lake CX175 Road Shoes:

The CX226 has a better fit for your toes but the CX175 is almost as good if you leave it a little looser than you think it should be. Lake are the first expensive shoes I've owned in 40 years of riding that don't hurt my feet.

The sizing is correct for 47's and while the toe box is wider than most shoes the heel fit is normal.

Bought my first road bike and found these Lake Shoes. They have been great. I have been out on a few rides and love them. The design and craftsmanship is wonderful. Leather uppers are a bonus.
