Nashbar Women's Trekking Bike
A women's bike needs to be more than just "shrink it and pink it," and trekking feels better when you're on a lightweight aluminum frame with women's specific geometry, an excellent suspension fork, Shimano drivetrain components, and 24 speeds of climbing, top-end, and long distance options.

The Nashbar Trekking Bike brings together all the best of the cycling world. You get nice, big 700c wheels for efficiency, control, and obstacle clearing, but you also get slick tires that are skinnier than mountain bike tires so you can still assault roads and streets without losing all your energy in the tires. Plus the Suntour suspension fork means you're ready for a little off-road, curb hopping, and gravel/dirt path riding when it suits you.

The Shimano Altus/Acera drivetrain gives you quick, efficient, and low-maintenance shifting...so you're never left skipping gears on a steep climb; and alloy riser bars and stem keep you more upright in the saddle so it's always comfortable on your joints and back.

  • Aluminum frame is lightweight, strong, and corrosion resistant
  • Suntour 700c fork gives you 50mm of travel to absorb road bumps comfortably
  • Shimano drivetrain is smooth, responsive, and dependable
  • Upright geometry keeps you more upright for better riding comfort
  • Slick 700c tires are efficient and smooth on roads, gravel, and dirt
  • Mountain bike style bars provide excellent control and 360 degree visibility

Comments about Nashbar Women's Trekking Bike:

I bought this bike for my wife, and she has put over 40 miles on it. Overall, she is very happy with it. She had me replace the seat with a more comfortable one that she ordered. The bike is an overall good value. When I was looking around for her bike, comparative bikes at the LBS were priced substantially higher. I could not find a decent step through on the used listings in my area. The frame is a decent aluminum frame, and the components function well overall.
My only complaint is that the rear derailleur is not properly tuned to its lower limit. When you select the first gear on the index shifter, it only moves the chain to the second gear, not the first. I know that this is not highly dificult to fix, but I have yet to fix that. A new bike should have that dialed in perfectly.

Comments about Nashbar Women's Trekking Bike:

The bike is just what I was looking for and is great value. It's a reasonably light and comfortable commuter with good components and some off-road capability. The only issue was the assembly requirements. I knew there would be some assembly required however:-

    1. It arrived with the handlebars attached to the stem back to front. It took me some time to figure this out but was easy to fix with the correct hex key.
    2. The front break cable was not assembled into the brake levers.
    3. The screws for the accessories (reflectors) were missing.

I was able to correct the issues but not everyone will have the bike knowledge to do so. Hopefully, Nashbar can use this feedback to fix the issue at the packing location as otherwise it's a great bike for a great price.

I bought this to use for riding my dog around. I installed a rear rack and a basket system for my small dog. I use this model as I can step-thru the frame. This is one of several bikes I have purchased from Nashbar with their brand. All have provided great service and I would recommend them for any use.

Comments about Nashbar Women's Trekking Bike:

I bought this bike for my wife so I could get her to ride with me. The price point made it easy to justify, even if she didn't use it that much. The front forks and seat shock really take a lot of the abuse out of the bike and make it a very comfortable ride. It required very little assembly out of the box, and I had everything squared away in less than an hour. The rear wheel was out of round and took some adjusting with a spoke wrench, but other than that, it's an awesome entry level cruiser. My wife ended up riding 16 miles on her first ride and loved the bike. She actually asked when we could ride again! The only thing I changed was the seat. It looks comfortable, but just didn't fit her. This is a solid bike that gives an enjoyable ride.
