Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Notes on size: My feet measure 263.5 and 266.5mm long and 105 and 103mm wide, respectively. According to Lake's own sizing chart, I should order a 42.5. Half sizes not being available, I ordered a 43. Much too long! I returned them and the 42 is a perfect fit. Toe area is still roomy, but I'm not swimming in them.

Notes on the shoe: Very high but not top quality construction. Leather is soft and well vented. The carbon sole is very stiff but not extremely so. At any rate it is a very noticeable difference from the plastic soles I had been training with. The insole is plain, but I don't like a lot of topography on my insole. The Boa enclosure adjusts very well. It tightens the forefoot and the opening evenly--- a pro in my book, YMMV. The "powerzone" lace routing is a nice option (search it for a better explanation), but makes taking the shoe off a bit of a struggle. A featherweight compared to some competitors at this price. Cleat positioning is easy with plenty of markings on the bottom. Overall, at this price, the shoe cannot be beat. WARNING NOTE: THESE SHOES ARE VERY SLIPPERY ON ALL SURFACES, so scuff up the pads.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Disclaimer: these replaced some two-strap mountain SPDs on my road bike, so I don't have a lot of experience with high-end road shoes. That said...

These are nice, light and stiff! I think of them like race ski boots. They are not meant for comfort, but you can easily get them nice and tight on your feet and they don't budge!

Definitely not comfort-oriented, although TBH I have so far been riding with them pretty tight on my feet, hoping they will break in after some time. I think if I didn't crank them down so hard they would still be stiffer & shift less under hard pedaling than my old shoes and be just find comfort-wise. But I like to ride pretty hard so...

Size-wise, I'm somewhere around a mens' US 11.5 depending on the brand and my feet are a bit wide, esp up front. I've had issues with some brands of running shoes being too narrow either in the toe box or the arch. These were plenty wide all around! No issue whatsoever. The size 45.0 fit me perfectly.

Quality-wise seems like these can't be beat- carbon sole & all leather upper, super nice!

Only downside might be that b/c of the stiffness, they are definitely meant for performance, not a comfort-oriented shoe.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Ordered a half size small, and the fit is perfect. I think a bit of snugness in the heel may be given up by the placement of the boa wheel, but it is in a great place to click in while riding. I definitely recommend these shoes, especially at this price.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Right out of the box I knew this just wasn't going to fit. The lack of half sizes had me guessing and going back and forth on what was right. As it turned out, neither the half size bigger nor smaller fit (44 and 43). I definitely needed the 43.5 -- no matter what the sizing charts -- and there were several -- said.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Very nice shoe with great features. The quality looks great. I have riden it once and I love the carbon sole and the boa closure system. Here is what I noticed: The bottom is very slippery, be careful when walking on these! They are really wide in the front section. I ordered a 45 but could have easily gone down to a 44. Just for comparison, my specialized shoes are 46s.

              Unbelievable deal from Nashbar!

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

I'm a big fan of Lake shoes. The large toe box helped alleviate hot foot issues on long rides. The Boa lace helps get a great foot no matter your foot shape. My feet are boney and getting shoes comfortably snug was an issue before Lakes. I've got 10,000 miles on a pair including 2 LaVuelta Puerto Rico trips. I bought these as insurance because Lake does not make them with the boa knob on the back anymore and that works well for me

This is my 2nd pair of BOA lake shoes (1st road pair) They are the best fitting and comfortable shoes. They are a litte wider than the MTB shoes which I think is great for the road. Feet stay plenty cool with no hot spots or tightness.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

This is a great shoe. I have wide feet and had to return a pair of Northwave shoes because they were too narrow. Based on Lake's sizing I went with a 44. I wear a US 10 and the 44's were more like a US 11. Returned 44s and just got size 43. MUCH better!!!! The wide toe box is really nice and comfy. The BOA system is great and makes adjustments on the bike really easy.

On thing to remember on these is that the boa cable can be re-routed in two different places making them fit snugger in certain areas.

                    Great Shoe!!!!! Highly recommended.
