How do you keep the chain out of the way when you pop off the wheels for cleaning (or transportation) purposes? This handy dandy wonder, the Nashbar Chain Keeper, is the simple solution to keeping the chain tensioned and out of contact with the frame in the absence of a rear wheel. Via the quick release lever, simply attach the chain keeper to the right rear dropout and you'll be free to rotate the chain backwards and forwards to your heart's content as you make your drivetrain grime-free. Every home mechanic should have this nifty device in their toolbox!
Takes the place of the rear wheel to keep chain tensioned for cleaning or travel
Allows forward or backward rotation of drivetrain to facilitate chain cleaning
Easy attachment to right rear dropout via quick release
bought as a chain keeper while doing rear wheel (out of frame)work....keeps the chain stay clean and protects it from chipping.....I always remove a chain to service it (clean) so I don't use it for that, BUT, it would be useful for cleaning to those less fussy than myself....especially combined with one of those chain cleaning rigs....made with adequate quality parts so I have no idea how well it will stand up to solvents...
