The crown jewel of any groupset is the rear derailleur, and the SRAM Red 22 11-speed Medium Cage Rear Derailleur doesn't disappoint. Superficially it keeps the same aesthetic appearance as the 2012 SRAM Red 10-speed rear derailleur, but the guts are all new for quieter, more precise, and smoother shifting. SRAM's Exact Actuation technology has now been updated with True 22 precision technology to provide more leverage to move the chain across the cogs. Shifting also gets a lot smoother and quieter thanks to the all-new Aeroglide Pulleys with ceramic bearings and the medium length cage means you can run a 32T large cassette cog to ascend the nastiest climbs you can find. There's also a host of small but significant upgrades scattered all over. The chain pulley cage has been redesigned for more precise chain movement management, resulting in less chain wobble, the spring-fixed barrel adjust has been upgraded to make adjustments easier, and the standard pinch bolt has been replaced with a titanium one, because in some situations every gram counts. When it comes down to pure performance (and weight), Red 22 delivers up something that stands out from the crowd.
