I have owned this rack for over 5 years and the hydraulic may leak down, but in my case it takes overnight. This initially was caused by me over tightening the rack, so in my case it was after about 4 years, then I took it apart and used a thick oil to reduce the leakage.
I have two tandems, plus other bikes and this one works extremely well for tandems. I love this rack it's easy to install, easy to remove. I have owned many and this one has been my favorite. I get to my cycling destination, put it inside my truck and don't have to worry if it will disappear before I get back.

I've had my rack for a year, now the hydrolic pressure doesn't hold for much over a couple of days. I like to keep my mtn bike in my truck most of the time thru the summer, but either I give it a couple of pumps every couple of days or it falls down. I'm looking to buy the manual crank type next.
