Comments about Ascent Pannier Seatpost Rack with Quick Release:

this rack was the wrong fit for my hybrid mountain bike because it would not clamp on the spring loaded seat shaft tight enough to keep it from moving right to left and rub against the tire, also the raised crossbar on the rack rubbed on the seat spring brackets under the seat, this also limits the height adjustment of the seat.. i think this is a well made product but the wrong fit for my bike. i'm going to see if someone else can use it to avoid having to ship it back.

Comments about Ascent Pannier Seatpost Rack with Quick Release:

I was really excited to start commuting with my road bike using panniers instead of a backpack. When I got this rack it went on easy enough, but my panniers (an old set of Jandd bags), did not fit. The lower attachment for the hook and bungee cord was not long enough. Now I am considering returning the rack or putting a second hook on my bag (so that I can still use it on my standard rack).

Comments about Ascent Pannier Seatpost Rack with Quick Release:

Welds are on one side of round cross supports only, similar to a previous light-duty rack I had that literally fell to pieces in one summer of riding. Nashbar stock DC-PP-K, the Delta Post Porter rack is stronger and has longer panniers supports with a more secure bottom pannier hook attachment-quality costs but is worth it in the long run. I have both racks.
I do like the Ascent's quick release seat post attachment and I run my cable lock thru the rack to thwart the street urchins. It was easy to attach-be sure to close the cam clamp all the way or it'll open up when riding. The Nashbar expandable rear rack bag fits it. Using my size 12 shoes with toe clips my heels hit even small front-size type panniers when the rack is positioned 2" above a 700mm wheel.

Comments about Ascent Pannier Seatpost Rack with Quick Release:

The rack fits on my road bike. In fact I was able to move the rack to the seat tube of my bike rather than the seat post.My tube is 32mm. I had to use electrical tape to protect the frame.

I have been using this for one month.

It works with the small Nashbar commuter panniers.

What I dont like is the large clamp. I do touch the clamp from time to time with my leg. I would buy a fixed clamp next time that was smaller or retrofit the bike with a standard rack.

I recieved the rack and have just put it on my bike. I don't know what problems others have had with the qr clamp. It comes with 2 rubber inserts and if I used one it wouldn't clamp properly but with 2 inserts it wouldn't fit around the seatpost. I cut one of the rubber inserts in half using a safety knive (but you could use scissors as well) and the clamp works fine... I havent had much opportunity to carry stuff yet but overall the product seems good.

I used it on TOSRV 2012 day #2... rain for 7 hours. Combined with the daytrekker panniers it held solid the whole ride. I was unable to use the included rubber for the seatpost however. Instead, I wrapped the post with electrical tape and it worked and did not move one bit.

I've used one for years and consider it my best commuting accessory (works great with NB Daytrekker bags). It can instantly convert almost any bike, even a fancy club rider if it doesn't wear a carbon fiber seatpost, to light carry duty; and if security is a concern you can unclamp the rack/bags/stealable goodies and simply take the whole package with you. I've had no mounting or stability problems at all. Mounting a rear light on it was a fiddle, but not a major issue.
