Comments about Brooks B17 Saddle:

Replaced the smallish Bontrager saddle that came stock on my Trek Domane.
very comfortable right out of the box.
look forward to it breaking in and fitting me even better.
I bought the Proofide, and have been applying it esp to the underside, to condition and weather proofing.
The Royal Blue color is starting to show (it came very dark, almost black)
I am VERY happy with this saddle.
a perfect match for me and the bike.

    Comments about Brooks B17 Saddle:

Simply the best saddle I've ever ridden. My only problem is that I waited so long to get one. Although the first ride on it is a bit hard, the dreaded break in period that everyone talks about seems nonexistent. I would recommend this saddle over and over again. You should definitely order some of the Brooks saddle cream with it to help break it in. I have a friend with a Brooks and borrow his. Now I need to order some for both of us.

My son uses two bikes, and was moving his one Brooks saddle from bike to bike because he loved the Brooks so much. This new Brooks eliminates the need to keep changing the seat. Brroks will last a llifetime (or until somone steals it, is classy, not uncomfortable even though there is no padding.

          Comments about Brooks B17 Saddle:

Still the most comfortable saddle I've ridden. Ride it on everything from century rides to club racing events. Even fellow riders on narrow modern seats will ask to try it and love it. Unless you ride on the tour I think you won't find a more comfortable seat. I got mine when Nashbar was having the yearly big sale and got a great price.

          Comments about Brooks B17 Saddle:

I'm now ruined for any other saddle. I thought my WTB saddle was all I'd ever own but decided to try this since it was on sale with a 20% site discount.

I treated with Proofide as directed straight out of the box. At first, I was sliding off of this thing like crazy and thought I had made a mistake. This forced me to angle it up which was painful on the family jewels, especially when in the drops.

After it broke in, I was able to point the nose back down again and the saddle lost its slipperiness. It took me only about 100 miles to get it broken in and then I went on a 250 mile trek. During that trek, I never once had saddle discomfort despite riding up to 80 miles/day. I can also now ride in the drops without any discomfort.

This thing is a full 250g heavier than my WTB, but I'm considering getting a Brooks for each bike I own. My go to WTB saddle now seems painful after only a short ten mile ride.

My next one will probably be the Swallow as I think that model will be better for road riding than the B17 and is quite a bit lighter.

          Delusional Retro Nonsense

              Comments about Brooks B17 Saddle:

I got my first Brooks on my first road bike which was made for me in Italy in 1964. Untreated, they actually take several thousand miles to "break in", at which time they take on the appearance of an old, dirty diaper hanging across the rails like a nasty hammock. Until they are "broken in" they pound your prostate (and the other bits)like sitting on a jackhammer. Today, the retro crowd considers this to be some sort of "badge"of cycling purity or something. In the 60's there were no other options to speak of so we had to accept the suffering and destruction of our prostates. The anatomical cut-outs in modern saddles are actually there for a reason. When your prostate goes you'll get it.
If you like the Brooks then you probably also lust after a fixed gear track bike without brakes to complete your look and proclaim your preliteracy to the world (who doesn't care). Lame.
Rather than bash this rediculously hyped anachchronism with my own criticisms I would just suggest that you ask yourself when was the last time you saw a professional road-racing cyclist riding a Brooks? Tweet Bob Roll and ask him why everyone isn't riding a Brooks during this year's Tour de France. Give me a break.

Since I just received it I haven't managed to break it in yet. Even though it is still stiff I like it better than my old saddle and the test saddle I borrowed from my local bike shop. I'm looking forward to putting more miles on this. I think when it is broken in completely it will be awesome.

I had not found the perfect saddle as i tried many and do about 8,000 miles a year some commuting some road cycling. I purchased a similar Brooks saddle for my commute and I can saddle it has resolved 90% of "my" issues. I think that's pretty good so I bought this one for my road bike.
