Comments about Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Road Tire:

I am a road biking enthusiast and ride about 4,000 miles per year in the New York City area as well as other cities. Pot holes, glass and construction debris are all over the cities and this tire is immune to it all. I usually get 4,500 miles from this tire and never more than one to two punctures during the life of the tire. Worth the extra money for sure.

Comments about Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Road Tire:

I ride in NYC. Broken glass, potholes, all sorts of debris on the road. These tires hold up fantastically. Glass and metal shards do not even stick into the tread, and I've been riding on these for over a year. Seriously, nothing, not even nicks. I find it hard to believe but it is true.

This is one tough tire. I am a New York City rider and you know the roads here. Holes, glass, metal etc. This tire stands up to all. My buddies who use other tires puntcture five to one over this tire. Ususally good for 4,000 miles to boot. It is more expensive then most, but worth every penny.

I only ride Continental's on all my bikes. They last and provide the confindence I need for a trouble free ride...over and over again. Grand Prix 4 Season are a bit pricey, but well worth the price.

Comments about Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Road Tire:

Riding in Portland Oregon tests all road conditions. I love Continentals in general, but this tire doesn't delivery flat resistance. Glass has a tendency to catch in the tread. I can't discern added road stability or traction with this tire enough to offset the increased flat tendency. Go with the Gatorskin options.

Comments about Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Road Tire:

I purchased a set of the Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Road Tires in June, 2011. I mounted them on a new Ultegra wheelset a few days later. First impressions were positive as I was looking for a tire other than the "racing slicks" that are most common, as I'm not a racer.

Generally speaking, I wanted a tire that would corner well, even during the colder months here in Missouri, would wear well and be fairly tough. While mounting the tires I noted a fairly stiff sidewall and the overall construction seemed to be good.

Between June and early September I put over 1K miles on the tires and they looked good and were wearing and handling fine. Also had good experience on a pretty wet weekend ride in Kansas City, with people on the side of the road fixing flats pretty often.

As luck would have it, just five weeks later I was on a ride with my local bike club and encountered a pretty consistent amount of rocks on the shoulder for the last 20 miles or so. At a break a short while earlier, I'd remarked that I had well over 1K miles on the tubes and my time was likely up. A scant 10 miles later I had a blowout. Those things happen.

The disappointment was that the sidewall on the tire was sliced right through, indicating a sharp rock had done the damage. I have that occur commonly on cheaper tires, not expecting that I would encounter this type of problem with a better product. Heck, I can buy an automobile tire cheaper than this bike tire.

All that said, I haven't really found a better tire available that is clearly better so I am even now in the process of buying a replacement. But if you're looking for a tire under the delusion you'll get to wear it out for a daily rider, this is probably not it - especially if you will encounter rocks on a regular basis.

When I did pull the ruined tire off the wheel, I was surprised to note a bit of wear - more than I'd noticed a few weeks previous. Perhaps this could be accounted for by riding on some rougher pavements or I just hadn't noticed it while on the bike. A significant difference between the front and rear though.

Not the worst tire in the world and certainly not the best. Best to rank my comment as "middling".

Comments about Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Road Tire:

I have been using these tires for many years and I have always been 100% satisfied with them. They are very durable. When I put new tires on, I usually ride about 2000 miles before rotating them, which then gives me an extra 2000 miles (after 2000 miles, the front tire is like new). They are expensive but you really get what you pay for: quality, reliability and durability. I tried to go with cheaper tires and ended up having to replace them after 1000 miles or so. At the end of the day, you are better off spending a little more to get tires that last much longer.

I've had these on my commuter road bike for three years now and have had exactly one puncture. The back one is just now beginning to show signs of wear. These are a little heavier than the GP 4000s but if you're doing a lot of miles, and need the additional durability and wet weather traction these tires are the answer. A great value, especially if you can get them on sale.

I have been using this tire for the last 5-6 years on all kinds of poor, glass-riddled and otherwise nasty pavement. In many situations where fellow riders would experience a blow-out or take on some glass, these tires outperform any other tire that I have purchased in the last 15 years. They are expensive, but at 400 TPI, you will not find a better performing tire.
