    Comments about Nashbar Adjustable Stem:

I used this stem to adjust both the reach and the height of the handlebar on my granddaughters road bike. She is now much more comfortable on her ride and she loves it.

        Comments about Nashbar Adjustable Stem:

I replaced the stock stem on my Trek FX 7.2 with no issues. I wanted to raise my hand position a little and this stem allowed me to do this. I'm placing less weight on the front along with a more comfortable position [for me].

          Comments about Nashbar Adjustable Stem:

I have a REI touring bike. The handlebar is 1 1/4 inch diameter. The stem was for a 1 1/8th handle bar max. so the product is useless to me.

            Comments about Nashbar Adjustable Stem:

I recently purchased a fat tire bike to use as my daily commuter. The stem that came with the bike was just too long and shallow of an angle- which would be fine if all I did was off road trails. I mostly ride this bike to get to/from places, so I wanted a more upright seating position that was easier on my arms, shoulders and back like I had with my hybrid bike. All I have to say is that this is a great tool if you are unfamiliar with what angle works for you without having to buy several different stems to try out. Thanks Nashbar!

            Comments about Nashbar Adjustable Stem:

The installation was easy, but adjusting the height was difficult. I had to remove the splined insert to adjust the stem height. The instructions stated that you only needed to loosen the allen screw to adjust, but I had to completely remove the screw and tap out the insert with a wooden dowel before it would move at all. Once adjusted, it works fine. I didn't see other comments to the same effect, so I wonder if I have a stem that isn't machined correctly. It is working fine now however.

            Comments about Nashbar Adjustable Stem:

The thing I was concerned about that nobody mentioned and is not visible in the pictures is how exactly the clamp works. The fulcrum point does have an insert with strong spines on it that will keep the thing from turning/shifting even if the bolt were to loosen up, so it's not as if the whole safety of the handlebars staying in place is dependent on one fulcrum bolt staying super-tight. Also a couple reviewers mentioned some creaking noise and I would like to state that although I do not ride off-road I have not noticed any noise nor any other issues at all with this piece. Great buy!!

              Comments about Nashbar Adjustable Stem:

I used this for my old Scattante Road bike that I made as my Winter/Rain bike. For the longest time, my back kept aching after a 30 mile ride, and decided to try buying this adjustable stem. Awesome idea, for now, backaches are gone. I did have to put more grease for even after tightening to the specified torque, it still creaked. After applying grease, it's quite.

I put this on a flat bar road bike to experiment with where I wanted the bar. I settled on 40 degrees. This stem is well made and I have full confidence in it to hold up due to its design.

When I added a Cane Creek 3G Thudbuster Long Travel Seatpost to my Specialized mountain bike, I needed to raise my handlebars to keep a comfortable ride configuration. This product was an easy, affordable solution. So far, it has performed as advertised.
