A brand new bike that had issues with seat post slipping (it happens even on new high-end bikes) needed an extra collar to stop slipage. I spent an hour carefully filing out the ID of this collar to make it work, since the original ID was less than that spec'd out by Nashbar. It was easier to file off an internal lip inside the collar than to bother returning it. Anyway, now all is fine; it fixed the seat post issue. The specs should have indicated that there is a lip inside this collar. I purchased it based on the diameter of my seatpost; this item was too small because of the lip. I don't know how Nashbar can think it'll fit something that is clearly 2mm smaller (an interference fit). But I typically have a problem with Nashbar's online Web pages managing, they're way too sloppy.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: This is a seatpost collar to be mounted on a frame - the lip is to keep it flush with the top of the seat tube. It is not intended to be used on a seatpost directly but rather to clamp the top of the frame...
