Comments about Nashbar MTB Toe Clip:

As an old-school clip user on my commuter bike, I added these to replace some others that were beyond repair. They work fine and are available in big sizes which I really like - the problem is that whoever spec'd these really botched the hardware. The machine-screw head will pull right through the mounting slots in the flexible plastic of the clips which can be a real sinking sensation in traffic as the clip comes loose and hangs from the strap.

Be prepared to add 4 small washers under the mounting screw heads (15¢ extra) to save yourself a little surprise.

Comments about Nashbar MTB Toe Clip:

I'm old school and just getting back into bicycling so this was a good first step before eventualy moving up to clipless. I installed them on my mountain bike. I took others advice and installed flat washers on the initial installation becasue I could see it would be very easy for the mounting to pop off the head of the screw. I wore hiking boots (Size 10) and the Large size gave ample room to slide in and exit and not crush your toes with a little room to spare but my feet were not sliding around. I wish they would have ben made of steel but they still worked great at giving me pedaling efficiency when making the climbs.

I just assumed that the toe clips would come with straps to be able to adjust and tighten foot in clip, but was surprised to open and just see the clip.

Comments about Nashbar MTB Toe Clip:

It is a nice and cheaper alternative to upgrading to a set of pedals to increase pedal efficency. Works better with a pair of straps. Take a little getting use to and adjustment to the single entry and exit. I put them on all of my bikes because it works well.

Comments about Nashbar MTB Toe Clip:

Well, being a college student I can't really afford to buy clipless pedals and bike shoes. So, these are great because they are MUCH cheaper and allow me to get a lot more efficiency by being able to pedal in more of a forward and backwards motion, rather than just down. They are pretty durable and easy to install. Right now, I have them attached to aluminum VP mtb pedals. Even though they are "mountain" clips, they can be used just as well on a road bike.

As a previous reviewer said, the only thing that can be bad about them is that the screw head is a little small and is likely to pull through. But as they said, a simple washer fixes that.

If you're like me and you want more efficiency, but don't want to break the bank, buy these.

Comments about Nashbar MTB Toe Clip:

For people that still appreciate clips, these are standard fare. Plastic clips aren't as efficient as metal clips - if you pull up hard, they give a little more. On the other hand, they don't get all bent up and retain their shape better for quick entry. I like them for street riding when you know there are going to be times you aren't going to get in the clip.

I have one complaint about the Nashbar plastic clips. The bolt head is a little small for the plastic and can pull through if it takes a nasty lick. It is easily fixed with a washer - I would recommend getting the washers to start with.
