These plugs work perfectly. Much better than the cheap plastic stuff that comes with the tape. These are easy to use and bulletproof

Comments about Nashbar Road Handlebar Plugs:

They are small diameter and short in length.
This makes it challenging to fit them to road handlebars. It can be done by tightening the screw before inserting them into the handlebar, until they require gentle pressure to insert them, then completing the tightening.

      Works as Advertised

      By Korm

Comments about Nashbar Road Handlebar Plugs:

I bought a bike off Craigslist and bought bullhorn handlebars for it that were too small for regular plugs. After trying to plug with cork to no avail, I bought these thinkings "they're cheap enough even if they don't work." I had to carve the rubber pieces down, but they work like a charm. I imagine on full sized bars they'd work just as good. Tightened as advertised, despite what others have said.

Comments about Nashbar Road Handlebar Plugs:

Decent handlebar plugs. "Fastener plugs" don't vibrate loose like friction type plugs. If nut rotates while tightening, I use a little piece of duct tape across nut and it works fine.

        Does not work

Comments about Nashbar Road Handlebar Plugs:

        These simply don't work. Useless.

No matter how much I tighten the screw to pull the plate at the back in, the plug doesn't expand - it just spins in the bar.

I had a pair like this a long time ago that worked find - not sure where I got them. These don't work.

Comments about Nashbar Road Handlebar Plugs:

I was excited to find an inexpensive set of these plugs to avoid those crummy press in caps that come with most bar wrap. My girlfriend's Specialized came with a similar expanding plug so I got these thinking they'd work similarly. I tried these on two of my bikes, one with older "vintage" drop bars, and a newer ergo set of drop bars thinking that perhaps the tube diameter would make a difference. The rubber part that is supposed to expand is rigid and barely compresses with the screw. The first one I tried to tighten, the plastic on the exterior part of the plug cracked, long before it was tightened and compressed enough to keep it from being pulled out of the bar end. I threw it and the unused one in the trash. I don't know if I got a bad set, but look elsewhere and save yourself the disappointment.

Easy install (screwdriver and a pair of pliers to hold it tight). 2 minutes a side and they were installed to prevent the handlebar wrap job from coming undone.
