Works just fine. Good value for home use.

Comments about Park Tool CT-5 Compact Chain Tool:

If one were taking off and putting on multiple chains on every day it would make sense to have a more robust tool with a longer more comfortable handle as it does take some force to push out/push in a pin. But for once every three months this tool is just fine.

Comments about Park Tool CT-5 Compact Chain Tool:

I work on a lot of 'donated' bikes. Most common problem are old-dry chains. Am tired of working on cheap 'store brand' chain tools ... they are exactly that ... cheap ... and the pins breaks REALLY easy. This Park Tool fits great in the hand ... and does the job well. The fact that you can also 'buy' replacement pins for this chain breaker is another great feature! Have not needed replacing the pin ... this is a pretty tough tool.

Excellent tool to remove and install pins for your chain. This tool is just as effective as any high price tool. A more expensive will not give you any better performance. The pin is also replaceable.

Comments about Park Tool CT-5 Compact Chain Tool:

This tool was easy to use, lightweight, and strong. I've never changed a chain before and the instructions were straight forward, with graphics to help visually. I did it with in five minutes. I liked it so much, I bought my son one for his birthday to add to a, "fit in your saddle pack" tool.

I change my bike chain about once a year, this tool is perfect for that application and it will save me money from having to go to a bike shop and paying markup on chains and labor. However, I would not recommend for industrial use.

Comments about Park Tool CT-5 Compact Chain Tool:

I used this to break a new 6701 Ultegra chain.
The pins are very tight on this chain.
This tool did a good job. It has a dual shelf that allows you to fine tune the depth of the installed pin for a perfect non binding link.
The size of the tool allows it to be carried on a bike. I would like to see a bigger version of this tool for shop use.

Comments about Park Tool CT-5 Compact Chain Tool:

I'm trying to take over more maintenance and repair items on my bike so I can save some money. This is the first time I've ever shortened a chain myself, and it was a snap to do.

As a side benefit, I now have a chain tool I can throw in my camelbak for long rides. I've been out several times with riders who needed a chain tool and nobody had one. Next time, I'll be prepared.

Comments about Park Tool CT-5 Compact Chain Tool:

I carry it on rides (non-racing) to repair broken chains.
Well made and aligns chain fairly precisely.
Be careful of the (removeable) rivet pin coming loose and getting lost. I lost a pin due to it vibrating loose. Fortunately I had a spare and have used rubber solution as 'threadlock'. I also keep it in a plastic bag in the tool kit - if the pin still comes loose, it won't get lost.
                Happy, safe riding.

Comments about Park Tool CT-5 Compact Chain Tool:

Works perfectly as all Parks tools do. Not too big, plenty of power, nice feel for stopping the rivet at the right place. Light weight and small enough to pack for the trip. Cost vs. quality is excellent. Replaced several chains and shortened others on my bikes. Quick and easy. Thanks Nashbar and Parks!!
