Comments about Speedplay X-5 Road Pedal:

Been on these pedals for about 500 miles and they're great. Lots of float, so you can find a position that's comfortable for you. Easy to pop out of and have never accidentally pulled out of them. The only minor issue I have is that I occasionally have to do a little boogying to clip in. Not a big deal though.

    Would definitely buy again.

Comments about Speedplay X-5 Road Pedal:

huge float fixed my knee pain. You must use cleat covers becaude if you step in mud the cleat has to be cleaned which takes some time. It took about 15,000 miles to wear out the pedals. I have bought the same replacement pedals. SPD cleats are simpler to use but hurt my knees.

Comments about Speedplay X-5 Road Pedal:

I was having knee problems with my SPD pedals no matter how I adjusted them, and thought I was going to have to give up cycling.

These pedals are great. They have a LOT of float and they've been reliable for me for a few thousand miles now. The knee problems are gone.

    Very highly recommended.

Comments about Speedplay X-5 Road Pedal:

I moved to these Speedplays to try something different this season. I was riding Looks and these had me sold with low stack height, free float, and low weight. Initially, these worked well for me. Unfortunately, I started having left knee soreness after long rides soon after the switch. I tried fore-aft and rotational cleat positioning, with no change. I moved to SPD-SL at the end of the season (of 1200 miles) and won't look back. Immediately I had relief from my knee soreness.

These pedals have the maximum amount of float. My knees immediately stopped hurting when I started using them. Unlike my old shimano's, I have NEVER had trouble clicking out and I am yet to fall with these after 6 momths of riding. Outstanding! You will not be sorry with this purcahse.

Takes a little while to get used to the free float, but after that these are great. Easy to clip in and out of, except hard to clip in if cleats get dirty. Have 4 or 5 thousand miles on mine and still feel smooth.

Comments about Speedplay X-5 Road Pedal:

I have two pairs of these and have put a lot of miles on both. On the plus side the dual-sided entry is very convenient, especially if you ride in city/suburban areas and need to clip out frequently. However the bearings on one pair of mine wore out after a few thousand miles. The other pair is still working. Use caution if you stand on wet ground/mud as the cleats can get these clogged pretty easily which can make clipping in difficult. Also, the cleats are metal which can be extra slippery when you walk on floors.
