Comments about SRAM PC951 9-Speed Chain:

SRAM's PC951 is an inexpensive way to keep your 9-speed group working smoothly. It's much less expensive than a Shimano brand 9-speed chain, and is compatible with Shimano cassettes. It installs easily, and can be just as easily removed for cleaning. It is heavier than a comparable Shimano chain, so it isn't great for competition. Also, it takes a few miles to conform to a worn Shimano cassette, but works fine immediately with a SRAM cassette. I'd recommend it primarily for cost-conscious commuters and mountain bikers who ride in wet or gritty conditions.

Comments about SRAM PC951 9-Speed Chain:

As far as decent price chains go, it seems just fine. The initial layer of grease was thin, so it needs help there from the beginning which is too bad because usually chains are great out of the box for a long time. The quick link was extremely tight and hard to snap together. It is releasable, but takes a good effort to do so. It's not a bad chain, but I've seen better ones at the same price point.

sram has the best cassettes and chains in my opinion. they outlast the rest by far. shimano is the worst on cassettes and chains. kmc is ok as is wipperman. don't know about in house nashbar.

Comments about SRAM PC951 9-Speed Chain:

This is a decent chain, I used it for commuting in a wet marine environment and was satisfied with its performance to price ratio. I'm about 160 lbs. and ran the chain on my somewhat heavy commuter, which got me a little over 700 miles before it was time to replace it . . . not bad considering how cheap it is when you can get it on sale. The tool-less master link works really well and the chain runs pretty quiet as long as you don't used dry wax lubes.
