Comments about Topeak Trunk Bag and Beam Rack Set:

Poor instructions made it difficult to install properly. It is small and doesn't hold much. The second time I used it, something snagged while I was bringing the bike down some stairs, and part of the catch that holds the bag in place snapped off! Now I'm hoping I can jerry rig it if it breaks down further. I wish I had purchased something better. But it is cheap - about half the price of similar stuff I saw at the bike shop.

trunk replacement is expensvive, you get two seasons tops before the zippers fail, at first I blamed myself. for not taking more care even though I've never had any other zipper fail. I bought an updated trunk replacement that I liked a lot, this time being extra extra careful not to over stuff the bag...again both zippers failed on second season. 25 years ago I got a free backpack, the cheapest pack one could find, I stuff it to the max every time I use it..zippers are fine. They know what they're doing - don't be a sucker

Comments about Topeak Trunk Bag and Beam Rack Set:

The pack and mounting bar could work, but there are two (in my opinion) fatal design flaws: 1. Even with the bar mounted as low as possible, the pack is too high, throwing off the bike's center of gravity, and 2. the quick-release mechanism is too wide and rubs against your thighs while pedaling. A little tweaking of the design and it would be a great product!

Comments about Topeak Trunk Bag and Beam Rack Set:

Check Topeak's website for specifics, but they offer three different bracket versions. The differences are mainly related to the angle of the clamp to the seatpost. This is probably the most common configuration, I think the E or EX. It fit my bike with no problems other than needing to ditch my large wedge kit for a minimally sized one.

The bag has a good deal of room, I can fit a change of clothes, a small lunch, and a book. Not large enough for a laptop (maybe a tablet), no bottle or can holders. Small drawer under rack holds mini tools and CO2 cartridges or tube, not both (thus I still use wedge).

Very easy to slide the bag on/off, or just quick-release the whole bracket to another bike.

I love having ditched the backpack and moved the weight down to the rear of the bike instead of my back, will especially enjoy this during heat of summer.

Comments about Topeak Trunk Bag and Beam Rack Set:

The Topeak MTX bike trunk bag is great! You can pack all necessary equipment for short and long trips. I pack a light jacket, plenty of food: oranges, bananas, peanut butter, and water; a small first aid kit, a patch kit, extra tube, tire levers, CO2 cartridge and pump. Oh and my wallet. So, yes it is very roomy indeed. When you lock up your bike just add the strap, detach and carry comfortably on your shoulder. The rack is sturdy enough to stay securely in place when going over rough terrain or potholes. I just love it. The best bike trunk for the price!!!!!

This was so easy to install and a great plus is the built in tail light. Really nice that if at a break point, the bag easily unlocks and slides off so you can leave the bike parked and just take snacks and supplies to your resting area.

Comments about Topeak Trunk Bag and Beam Rack Set:

Using to commute 4 miles to work. Holds all I need. Easy on/off for weekend rides without the rack. Bag slips off rack easily for theft prevention. Apart from slight thigh rub (acclimated after 3 minutes) and the need to think a little about your dismount, you can't tell it's there. Had tried several other smaller seat and frame packs, this was the perfect solution for me.
