Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

during the first 100 miles, glass got embedded in the tire. When it finally flatted, I discovered just how hard it was to get these tires back on the rim. Honestly, I HAD to use tire irons and got flats in the new tubes in the process. Yes, they are hardy and last a long time, but there are other tires out there that will do the same but are a lot easier to mount on the rim.

      this is a 32 700. sturdy construction
narrow enough to be smooth and balanced, but heavy enough to last a while ( i ride 3000 miles/year)
it also has the vitoria double shield which is proven flat protection

Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

I have used these tires on thousands of miles of touring and have had surprisingly few flats. The only hassle is that they fit very snugly on the rim and as a result it can be a huge pain to get them back on the rim. They look good, provide great traction and last a long time. I really like these tires and have them on all my bikes.

Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

It just barely fit on my Bontrager Nebula 32-hole 700c rims. It was extremely tight. I broke a Brooks steel tire tool and pinched three tubes trying to get one tire on.

Not for beginners. Took special tools to get on, and I was afraid I would damage the wheel.

When I had it on, I realized that if I happened to have a flat on the road, I would never be able to get the tire off to fix the flat with the tools in my bike kit. Calling for help would be difficult where I go. So, I am sending them back.

For comparison, I had a 700-32 Nashbar Comfort Road tire handy, and put that one on, quickly, no problem.

Unless you are very experienced with putting tight tires on, stay away from this tire/wheel combination.

Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

Well I bought the Vittoria Randonneur tires to replace the original ones on my commuter bike. The first set gave me about 2,000 miles on the rear, I rotated it out after 1500 miles. After 3000 miles both were pretty well shot. Most of my riding is on chip seal surface, so it is pretty rough. They roll great, and I have had a few punture flats. After a few mounts and dismounts, I don't really have any problems remounting the tire. Its just a good reliable tire, and it looks business like on my "go to work" bike.

Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

These run very small. Same width as wide 23 or narrow 25. I bought them to ride the rougher roads and some packed limestone trails. Wanted the widest tire that would fit my frame, a 28. They measure just under 25mm using my calipers. I have a Michelin 23 that measures 24.5mm and a Forte 25 that measures 24mm. I need to try the 32 to see if they are undersized as well I need a 28. This explains another post about tube sizing. Despite the sizing issue, they ride smooth, take cattle guards nicely and don't feel as heavy as I'd feared. At this price I'll keep 'em.

Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

This is my second set, just as sweet as the first. The first set did at least a couple thousand miles over a couple years, from mountain terrain to urban cycling. Nothing can stop these tires - road quality, even off road, glass - whatever. It's amazing you can do off trail with a 28mm road tire.

Note that they are impossible to install, as everyone has mentioned. Get some pedro's tire levers before you embark on this project.

Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

As a commuter (52 weeks per year), i need a versitile tire. The Vittoria Randonneur is just that. Don't let the low tire pressure fool you, it is quite fast and has a smooth ride. I've yet to ride in the snow, but that is only months away. I predict they will do just fine, as they allow the wet materials through and give plenty of tire on the surface.

Comments about Vittoria Randonneur City Tire:

Great commuter tires. I went up to 28 mm to get a little more rubber on the road but didn't want too much volume/cush. Needn't have worried as these are visually about the same volume as the 25 section Armadillos I was running, just with a bit more tread. Perfect for riding all weather on imperfect roads. About 700 miles so far, no punctures and very little sign of wear.

Yes, they have a tight bead and are a bit of a bear to mount, but I had no problems getting them on with the proper volume tube.

If you're used to performance road tires, the tread will throw up a bit more water and I think give a little more rolling resistance in the wet, but probably more traction as well. Otherwise they are very efficient when inflated to max+ pressure.

I got these in 700x28 for my commuter / city bike and so far I'm pleased. I like how they roll and feel on the road compared to the tires of another make they replaced. I use more air in these than the manufacturer's recommended max of 85 (for normal riding I run them with 90 in front and 100 in back) with no problems so far. They do well on wet roads and okay on gravel and broken surfaces.
