Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Front Derailleur:

Hard to find a new front derailleur nowadays that will accept a 44T big ring. In this aspect the micro shift is good.

Now the ugly, Sorry guys .........

When centred on the big ring ..... the cage sticks out just a touch too far and clips the crank arm. The poor top side cage design means this derailluer has to be twisted slightly out of alignment in order to clear the crank arm.

Grab a hold of the rear section of the cage and this deraileur is far too easy to bend. I mean very easy. The parrallel arms are just too thin a material for this application.

In addition to this fairly major problem, there is also considerable lateral & up and down play. All of the pivots have slack and this means the derailluer has noticable free play and wobble.

In the top pull configuration, the cable does not align well with the roller guide. For example, in the granny ring with the derailleur bottomed out .... the cable does not sit on the roller guide. Once the cable tensions up ... as you shift into the middle ring, the cable sort of snaps into position on the roller guide. Not impressed.

I've used many different brands of front derailleurs over the past 30 years. I know how to properly set up a front derailleur. The Nashbar Micro Shift FD ? I had high hopes and I was dissapointed in the quality and design.

Having said all that negative stuff, I do get a bit of a laugh though. It actually does shift gears OK.

It does the job, however, it doesn't do it all that well ...... And it's weak ! Barely worthy of your hard earned money + shipping.

Maybe it would be something to put on a bike that you want to get rid of, if you have no morals.

I would like to point out that I have been generally pleased with most Nashbar products, but as for this one, I'm Sorry ....

Yuk, not a nice product, too bad.

Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Front Derailleur:

used on nashbar 16 alum frame I centered the derailer right over the bolt hole for the water bottle holder and it all fit perfect the bolt for the water bottle passes perfectly between the derailer clamp on the frame. I found the instructions and followed them and got it adjusted on the first try. Very smooth, light weight and inexpensive. Very high quality for the price I would definately buy this again when I build my next bike.

Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Front Derailleur:

I've had this derailleur installed on my bike for about a month now and have to say that so far it works as well as any "name brand" counterpart that I have used. I've only had th opportunity to ride rails / trail and the roads on the way from my house but I am very pleased with my purchase so far, the initial quality and how smooth the shifting has been is great so far. Only time will tell how well it holds up. For the price you can't beat it

While fitting the part was easy, adjusting it so that it doesn't hit the big chainring was difficult. I am hoping it runs smoother after more miles. Other than that, it works well was easy to install. If I can't get it to stop rubbing, I will have to move on to another brand, most likely brand S.
