Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Rear Derailleur:

Bought this derailleur as a replacement for an 80's circa touring bike. Needed something to take the place of an ancient Sun with stripped out adjustment screws. Searching uncovered this gem that installed easily and adjusted perfectly for the old Bruce Gordon. Being that the bike is lacking indexed shifting, ratios and such are not a concern.

Quality is high with a nice finish on all external surfaces. While the adjustment and lock screws hold their position with no concern on the road, I would want to keep an eye on them riding across rough surfaces like gravel and such. Compared to the long cage Shimano on my MTB, this one has much lighter spring tension on the cage. Again, not an issue on average paved surface. No ghostr shifting so far on smooth road rides.

I would recommend this for anyone needing to upgrade an older touring rig or for the kit of replacement parts on the sag wagon. Only time will tell on how it holds up to extended use as I have only managed a hundred miles of cruising with it so far.

I bought this for my wife's MT Bike. It worked great right out of the box. After two 15 mile rides in pretty muddy terrain, still shifting silky smooth!!

Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Rear Derailleur:

A high quality, well made component. I purchased this to replace an old Shimano Deore. Shifts smooth and precise. Maybe a bit on the heavy side for the competitive cyclist. But for a mountain or touring bike, this is a good value.

Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Rear Derailleur:

This derailleur has everything you need in a wide range touring derailleur. It shifts smoothly and wraps a lot of chain. It's also indexable but works great w/ friction shifters. It's very light! Doesn't look too out of place on a classic bike. And the price is unbeatable, you can pay more and get less.

Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Rear Derailleur:

The derailleur has not yet been installed so I cannot provide any in-use feedback, so that is why only the 3 star rating. However, here are my pre-install comments: 1- I bought this Nashbar copy to replace an existing old Shimano XT unit. The catalog description and pricing was enticing enough to give it a try. 2- Physically, the Nashbar unit feels like it will do the job, construction is good, and the upper idler seems to have the proper slack. The appearance is good but very plain; it does not have the Shimano "bling". Of course the pricing says that you aren't paying for bling.

I replaced a totaled XTR with this based on other reviews. It installed in minutes, was easy to adjust by following the included instructions and is lighter than the original.

Comments about Nashbar Mountain Bike Rear Derailleur:

This is a follow up for my previous review below. So far I've put around 400 miles on the derailleur over the past few months and have had ZERO problems with it. After the initial install I haven't had to adjust it at all, and it hasn't missed any shifts at all. I've been using it on a road bike converted over to a flat bar set up, and I've switched the front crank from a double to a triple with this rear derailleur on and no problems at all. I started the bike out with a 53/39 crank, then went to a triple 50/39/30 crank, and now I've got a 48/36/26 crank on it now and the derailleur has worked perfect with all three cranks. This derailleur is made by Microshift, and Nashbar actually sells it cheaper under their own brand name than their competitors do under the Microshift brand name, so it's a really great deal. This is the best price out there for a derailleur that can handle a triple crank and a 34 tooth rear sprocket, and at 231 grams that it weighs it's also lighter than anything else close to it's price range from any other manufacturer. Would I buy one again ?...YES !...as a matter of fact I plan on ordering another one. For the weight, quality, and price you can't beat it.

Crisp shifts. I don't notice any difference between this one and a more expensive Shimano product. This is my second one that I've bought and am very satisfied with them. I race bikes and they perform.
