Comments about Shimano A530 Sport/Touring Road Pedal:

have these on two different road bikes. They have a little wider platform which makes them more comfortable on long rides. If weight counts then you would probably not want these but I think they are perfect.

This is my 2nd pair of A530 pedals. Both bikes I have them on are mostly worn with SPD shoes, but occasionally may need the "regular pedal" side for other shoes. These fit the bill

Comments about Shimano A530 Sport/Touring Road Pedal:

I ride my comfort bike about 500 miles a year as secondary / family bike. When our 10yo wants to go for a ride - just go, no waiting to change keens to spd shoes. These pedals fit the bill. If I were to change one thing - it'd be to design the platform to have better grip pattern. But for the pedal price it is what it is......

Comments about Shimano A530 Sport/Touring Road Pedal:

I believe that most of us would ride more if we don't separate riding from the rest of our normal lives. I like to be able to ride in what I have on now. I don't ride like a bike racer so I don't try to look like one. I can take off to the Post Office in my flip flops, boat shoes or whatever and still snap in for my Sunday morning ride with my buddies.

Comments about Shimano A530 Sport/Touring Road Pedal:

These pedals work great for their intended purpose, which is to allow me to use either my mountain biking shoes or my regular shoes to ride my bike. I don't need to clip in to ride a little in the neighborhood, but for going down to the YMCA to work out or for longer rides, I like being able to clip in.

The clipless side is easy to adjust the tension on, to clip in to, and twist out of. When I'm clipped in, it really improves my pedaling efficiency.

I wish that the bearings on the pedals were not adjusted quite so tight, so that the pedal would spin a little more freely. One of the things I liked about these pedals when reading various online reviews was that the pedals supposedly will auto-rotate so that the clipless side is always up, but the bearings on the ones I have are too stiff for that to happen. The bearings don't appear to be user-adjustable. I've not had them installed long, so it may wear in a bit over time and loosen up a tad.

All in all, though, a nice, handy pedal!

Comments about Shimano A530 Sport/Touring Road Pedal:

First time out the factory adjustment was tight. Losened adjustment and off I went. A couple near mishaps exiting my cleats wouldn't exit smoothly I pulled out the screw some more and lubricated well. Still jerky entering/exiting could be my old cleates but not having this issue with another SPD pedals. Use the platform for city riding and needing quick exit terrain.
