Seems functional, and it is pretty cheap. Note that it does include a star nut, so you do not need to purchase one separately.

Comments about Nashbar Steel Road Bike Fork:

I installed this on a steel SS Retro-cruiser (circa 1898). It's a nice match for the black frame and Brooks brown leather. The rake and trail on a frame with fairly steep angles (74deg ST angle, 74.5deg HT angle) makes for quick handling, but also some toe overlap.

It's a little on the heavy side, but pretty rigid, making steering precise.

Comments about Nashbar Steel Road Bike Fork:

Bought this chrome beauty to pair with the Nekkid aluminum frame. The bright shiny chrome with the deep blue frame, decked out with lots of chrome and silver components made for an inexpensive, comfortable, solid and quite attractive build. you're not going to win any races with this heavy fork but for a nice singlespeed build it has been first rate. Gets tons of compliments. The ride is smooth, stable and solid. Easy to assemble. This product is a great value. Finished out the build with Campy CX1 crankset (removed small ring to leave single 46-tooth ring) and CX Power tourque bottom bracket to keep out the muck, plus a set of Wabi wheels for my winter/nasty weather singlespeed. Great on club rides all winter long, for training, working on those pedal circles etc.

I like this fork and am glad I purchased it with the nashbar black chromo frame. I was not sure what it would look like on a black frame but was pleased of final build. I used black and chrome or silver in wheelset, levers, pedals, brakes, bottle cages and frame pump. Bike rides good.

Comments about Nashbar Steel Road Bike Fork:

A pretty ordinary white powder-coated Nashbar aluminum frame, with components off a hit-by-truck bike, becomes a really lovely bicycle with this neat chrome fork.
It has class, retro appeal, and is more supple than a carbon fork.

Comments about Nashbar Steel Road Bike Fork:

Beautiful chrome finish. It comes with star nut, and 2 threaded eyelets on the back of dropouts for your fender stays. The center hole for rim brake was a little rough, and needed quick cleanup with my rattail file to remove burrs on the inside. Not a big problem. It is well made, and seems very sturdy, but a tad heavy 2.6lb on my plastic scale (uncut.) I bought it to go with Nashbar's Schwinn 2010 LeTour (white) frame and it fits very well on that (steel) frame. I agree with other reviewer that says it has clearance for 700C x 28mm tires. My roads are very bad, and I can only ride wider tires. It does not come with a rubber or cork plug for bottom of steerer tube, but I should be able to find one at Ace Hdwr to keep slosh out. Appears to be polished chrome on the fork blades, but the steerer tube appears to be not as polished smooth. Stamped Nashbar Cr-Mo on the steerer tube. Overall, a very nice steel road fork! Not for disc brakes.

Comments about Nashbar Steel Road Bike Fork:

This fork was the find of my single speed build. I used it with the Nashbar nekkid single speed frame and it works and looks like it was meant for it, it's also pretty light for a steel fork only weighing about a pound more than a carbon/alloy instead of the usual 2 plus of a cro-mo one. The steerer cut easily what a standard pipe cutter and the lower race went on ok, but only after i heated it up a little. I bought it on a 20% off sale but it's still a bargain at the regular price, and it gives a nice old-school feel to the front end.

                Great for my Fixie!
I attached this to my nekkid aluminum frame and it looks real mean. It was easy to paint over, the web gave me great advice. And here is some advice for you. Get a stem and handlebars here, and make sure the specs match up. As far as steering piece, I advise you go to your LBS because you need a special tool and you also need to cut the metal which can be dangerous. I asked my LBS to install the steering, cut the fork, and install the chain+bottom bracket because you don't want to play games in that area. Good Luck!

Comments about Nashbar Steel Road Bike Fork:

I put this Nashbar Steel fork on my 2012 Bianchi Imola (steel framed), replacing the CF fork that the bike came with. The Nashbar steel fork is a vast improvement...both in handling and in ride-feel. I was originally concerned that there might be an issue with handling since the Nashbar fork has a rake of only 40mm...but there seems to be no incompatibility. Now I can take high speed turns with total confidence due to the fact the steel fork holds the road much better. Secondly, the whole bike feel is vastly improved. Whereas before the ride was 'dead'. this fork has a much better feedback...absorbing the big bumps but still allowing for some feedback even on relatively smooth roads. The bike finally feels like a 'steel' bike should...giving that old-style massage-like vibration which makes bike-riding the best form of therapy.

Its all relatively simple to install. I did have to go to the bike shop to have them remove the race-crown from the old fork and put it on the new fork. The race-crown is the platform where the ball-bearings sit on top of the fork. Aside from that I did the rest of the installation myself using the Park Tool SG-6 saw guide, and the Park Tool TNS-4 Starnut setter.

The fork comes with a star-nut.
