Pro Bike Case
There's no need to be nervous when ship your bike or entrust it to the rigors of airline travel if you're using the Nashbar Pro Bike Case. The super-strong ABS plastic construction is built to withstand plenty of punishment while copious foam on the inside keeps your bike safe and secure. An aluminum stabilizer frame keeps your bike perfectly positioned while your wheels are also safely stowed in a pair of wheel bags. It's not enough to get your bike from point A to point B unless the case itself is easily mobile, but that's not an issue with the Pro Bike Case. A set of four free-running castor wheels means the case rolls super smooth and plenty of handles ensures the case is easily pulled and lifted to boot.

Comments about Pro Bike Case:

I bought this on Black Friday for my trip to La Vuelta Puerto Rico this week. When I went to pack my bike today I found missing parts and useless directions. Now I have to hope a local bike shop can figure out how to use this thing even though I didn't buy it from them. Even the Youtube video is vague and useless. Looks like a nice case but no one thought enough of the customer to provide decent instructions. Don't buy this unless you are a seasoned bike mechanic.

Comments about Pro Bike Case:

I use this to get my transportation to the next job assignment. Biking is a great way to go on assignment and this case is big enough for all the needed pieces. Caution that it must not weigh more than 100 pounds per airline regulations. It is $150 with United to get it on the plane. I love knowing that the bike is going to make it. The tow handle is woefully under made. It has broke X 2 times and should never be confused with quality option.

    Comments about Pro Bike Case:

I just got back from my trip and the case protected the bicycle and all it's contents flawlessly.
The case is very spacious and you can place all your bicycle related gear on it.
The frame it comes with to secure the bike seems sturdy. The instructions are poor. It's just a list of things to do at best with no images. You have to figure out how to put it together. There were also no skewers as the instructions suggested so I used the wheel ones.
The wheel bags are nice and wheel made.
The handle is now broken. I suspected this would happen since the quality and positioning of it is poorly designed.
It has no turning wheels therefore you have to lift the front of the cage where the flimsy handle is every time you need to turn the case. This is why the handle broke as I feared. I will end up placing a soft strong strap like the one that closes over the case for pulling it.
This would be a perfect case if it would have turning wheels and the handle is replace with something better.

    Comments about Pro Bike Case:

I take one or more MTB trips every year, and have tried various ways to address the dilmena of bringing my own bike vs. renting. This case tips the balance in favor of bringing my own. It's sturdy, well-designed, and plenty big (my large Tallboy 29er and wheels fits easily). It's perfect for ground shipping, which is a great way to get your bike to and from your destination with greater convenience, and less cost, than bringing it on an airplane. Ground shipment also avoids the hassle of fitting it in a vehicle (although it fits in an Escape or CRV with the seats down). At less than half the cost (on sale) of comparable boxes, it's a tremendous value. Did a great job of protecting my bike on a recent trip.

    Great Case, Worthless Handle

    By WildwoodRider

    Comments about Pro Bike Case:

The case itself is designed well with an inner aluminum frame that keeps your bicycle in place. Lots of room for storing all your bike gear. Fully loaded, mine weighed in at 75 lbs. I really like the exterior latches, Velcro strap, and the strap handles on the top of the case. The handle for lifting and turning the case, however, is a very poor design, weak materials and FAILED ON THE FIRST TRIP! The plastic handle was starting to break as I was bringing it into the airport. By the time I got it back at my destination in the oversize baggage area, the handle was fully broken, the hinge was bent, and it was done. Very disappointing. Rather than go through the hassle of returning the case, I plan to remove it altogether and replace it with a flexible strap for lifting the end to turn. Great case, worthless side handle - like it was added on by someone who had no idea about robust design and strength of materials.

    Comments about Pro Bike Case:

The instructions for putting together the bike stand are inadequate but by referring to the picture of the product on the Nashbar product page it's easy to figure out. I put my bike in it and it is fairly easy. I have a small road bike which fits with the handlebars removed from the stem. It will take me about 20 minutes to disassemble and pack the bike. It seems secure but there is no provision for TSA padlocks. The literature does not state if the suitcase closure locks are TSA compliant. I will leave it unlocked and hope for the best. There is room for a toolbox, shoes, helmet etc. It remains to be seen what the airlines will do to it. An improvement would be straps to hold items in the bottom so they won't shift around if placed on its side or upside down.

    Comments about Pro Bike Case:

This is a really good case! I used it to ship my custom made 68cm bike to Cyprus for vacation. It was easy to use and held everything together really well. Protection is great and the case moves thru the airport well on the built-in wheels.

The only drawback to the unit is that it's oversize and ultimately, overweight when filled for most airlines. That will cost you extra $ to fly but OTOH, your ride will be comfy and snug and you'll not regret the cost if your bike is important to you. I saw a race team @ the airport with cardboard and lots of tape. I guess they made it but my bike is too valuable to me to put it in cardboard. If you have a high dollar bike, the extra cost is well worth it.

    Comments about Pro Bike Case:

The case does a great job of protecting your bike from the airline and hotel employees as they tend to toss luggage around. I ride a 61cm road bike and 21.5 MTB and both fit in the case without an issue. The wheels, peddles and handle bars do need to come off. There is plenty of room for your shoes, helmet, pump and other riding essentials. I would like to see the inside straps be a little longer. The box does flex a bit when loaded and can make it hard to close the latches. The plastic pull handle could be strengthened. As you are pulling the case around you can feel the handle flex.

      Comments about Pro Bike Case:

If you're going to travel with your race bike, you either need to go with a bike transport company or buy one of these. I have used soft cases to try to avoid oversize fees (usually $75 each way) but got tired of having my bike crushed, scratched, bent. Bought one of these and it holds my bike, helmet, shoes and just about whatever else I want to ship. Has great wheels. Well engineered. Oh, it is big, so you better have a van or SUV. So far I have carried mine in a Honda Pilot and a Toyota RAV-4. Fit best in the RAV-4.
