It rains a lot here in Oregon. The coat has kept me dry and warm. Larger zippers would be an improvement.

Comments about Nashbar Brunswick Rain Jacket:

This is a good quality rain jacket. It does work as you would expect but while its cheaper then most rain jackets, I still think the price is fairly high for what you get. I doesn't leak, but water does come up the back of the jacket when in the drops. Still much better then not having any jacket at all. Nothing special, but glad I bought it.

Comments about Nashbar Brunswick Rain Jacket:

This is a great shell at a reasonable price. I like the materials. The color is great for me as I commute often in the dark. I have only one complaint. The jacket doesn't have any kind of loop or hook to hang it on a rack. As a result, it is quite inconvenient to store. As far as actually wearing the jacket, I really like it. Overall, it is a great product at a great price.

Comments about Nashbar Brunswick Rain Jacket:

Great jacket for the price. Fits well. I bought it for visibility in cold weather commuting, I am often getting home in the dark. Very bright yellow. The other reviews are correct in that it is warm. The fact that it is waterproof also makes it very windproof. Example: I can ride to work (about 40 minutes 1-way) at 30 degrees and wear a long-sleeved t-shirt under the jacket and be fine. I was on an extended (2.5 hours) ride this weekend and wore the same layers and was fine the whole ride.

Comments about Nashbar Brunswick Rain Jacket:

The one thing no one has commented on was the sizing of this jacket. I am 6'0" and 170 lb with 33 inch waist. I was debating between ordering the M and L. I will use this for March/April paddling training. I wanted to order the L since I would be layering with a dryfit top + thin wool top under this jacket... but large says 43-45 chest (and when you go to Nashbar sizing chart for Nashbar products a 'large' has a 35-37 inch waist?!?). Huge waist size worried me, but I ordered large anyway... glad I did. Waist is not that huge and baggy. The large worked great with a couple light layers under it and the arm length on the L works for me... M arms may have been too short.

Comments about Nashbar Brunswick Rain Jacket:

Finally got to use this jacket in actual rain and it did as described did not get wet under this. It is rather bulky though would like something that could be zipped into it's own pocket if need be no way I could get this in my jersey pocket.

Downfall I found is on the inside rear pocket it is mesh on the inside so any water that sprays up can get underneath there and on to whatever is in that pocket and also on you. They should make the whole pocket inside/out waterproof for a secure area. Pit zips are a little bit of a pain to get open while moving I put some small zip ties on the zipper to fix this, would suggest them adding nylon strings. Maybe seal the zippers from the inside on the pits its not an area where rain is going to be punishing (road this jacket in a downpour on a gravel ride) it would stop the zippers from getting stuck along with the back pocket also.

Sorry I know this is a long review, I like this jacket and of course will recommend it on price alone, any higher in price and I would say look at something else.

First time out we got about an hour of good rain, and I stayed dry. It is a bit warmer than expected so below about 50 degrees it is great. Could use even more ventilation.

This is a great, affordable alternative to Gore-tex. It keeps you dry and helps shelter you from wet conditions and cool temps. I highly recommend this jacket.
