Comments about Shimano PD-M530 Trail Mountain Pedals:

Grea value, large platform if you have to pedal without a cleat. Trusted and reliable brand. For those into speed a little bit heavy but extra weight never bothered me, it just makes you stronger.

Comments about Shimano PD-M530 Trail Mountain Pedals:

I have never used clipless pedals but thought I would try some after slipping around on my platforms on my road bike, Cannondale Synapse. I wanted to use mtb shoes since you can walk around in them somewhat like regular shoes. These pedals were priced lower than at other places so I gave them a try. So far the combination has worked great. I have them at their loosest tension and will tighten them later. I have fallen, forgetting to unclip only twice, however I think the lesson was learned. Clipping in and out with standard spd cleats is easy, just don't forget. The pedals seem very well made, bearings being the smoothest I have encountered on any pedal I have used. I would recommend them but suggest Shimano include the multi angle release cleats. If I put a pair on my mountain bike I will definitely get those cleats.

Great choice if you are switching from platform pedals. It gives you the small platform so it's easier to get used to it. Easy setup and adjustments. I started very loose and continued tightening as I progressed.

Comments about Shimano PD-M530 Trail Mountain Pedals:

This is my first set of clip pedals, so take this review with a grain of salt. Having never used clip pedals, I found it easy to learn how to use the clips. The tension adjusters work well. I loosened them up a few notches and the cleats snap in real easy. I haven't had any issues with premature ejection from the clips.

Only complaint is one of the pedal clips seems to be coming loose. I tightened the tension and it didn't make any difference. What I notice is when the clip feels loose, I can just wiggle my foot a bit (as if trying to eject), and then the movement in the clip will stop. But then it comes back again after a few minutes of riding. I should note that I changed to the SPD-56 cleat, which may have something to do with this behavior.

Pretty good commuting pedal if you want them two sided. Felt a little heavy coming out of the box, but the price was right.

Slightly heavy, although not enough to return them. For the
Price they appear to be very well made and after several
Hundred miles no problems. Out of the box the
            Adjustments were perfect.0

This is my first use of clip pedals. I was looking for ease of use, which these seem to be. Reasonably easy to clip in and out. Have loved them so far, although they are a little heavy. They have made a great difference in reducing fatigue.

Comments about Shimano PD-M530 Trail Mountain Pedals:

The larger platform makes it easier to get going and pedal until clicked in. Less pressure over all on the under front foot area. I have an injury to one foot from an industrial accident 30 years ago that make these larger pedals necessary.

Comments about Shimano PD-M530 Trail Mountain Pedals:

I have a new Salsa Fargo and needed pedals.
Friend told me about these on Nashbar. These are a great value for the price. Perfect for what I needed and even though I haven't ridden much with them so far so good.
Shoes clip in with no adjustments necessary. They are a little tighter than I was use too with mostly getting clipped in initially. So it's slightly a little more effort but I could probably adjust that.
I am pleased because I feel like I am clipped in slightly better too and what I meant by a tighter feel.
I have not had a lot of experience with buying pedals and never owned any that are really expensive but I don't see how they could be better other than weight possibly. These are good for everyday riding, trails etc.
