Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

So far the computer has functioned flawlessly. For the price it is impossible to beat, and it has been durable despite any intentional or unintentional abuse I've put it through. It isn't the easiest computer I've set up, but once it is set up and mounted, ease of use 5 stars. Very simple, and only 2 buttons to worry about. An added plus I wasn't expecting was the back light.

The cons I have are not so much about the product as the service. I was shipped this with a pair of pedals, and both items were thrown in the same box. the pedals came loose during shipping, and I was afraid they may have damaged the computer. The only damage was the battery door on the sensor was chipped. Not enough to make the sensor useless, but enough that if I ever ride in the rain, it will ruin the sensor. I am combating this with electrician's tape, as I don't want to send back the entire sensor.

Also, I had to go to the hardware store and purchase zip ties because there was only 1 with the computer.
Neither of these are a big deal, but it's the little things that keep it from getting 5 stars.

I would still recommend this despite the few 'disappointments'

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I am giving this three stars for value and function, but taking off two stars for a mounting system that I feel is too weak for regular mountain bike use.
I bought three of these computers all at the same time. One for myself to use on my MTB, one for my wife to use both on MTB and road bike and one for a friend to use on his MTB.
Within a few months of use, the computer mount broke on two of the three (mine and my wife's) while being used on MTB's. The friend's is still just fine.
The computer seats on an angle in the mount, then you turn it straight to engage small lugs on the side of the unit with slots on the plastic mount. The problem I have with this is that the mount is fairly soft plastic and relatively thin material all around and both the lugs on the computer and the slots on the mount are not very big or robust.
Mine broke while riding on an admittedly rough and technical rocky section. The result was that some of the plastic of the slots and some of the plastic on the lugs broke and the computer popped off into the rocks. This broke some of the unit's case including some of the back which allowed the back cover plate to completely come off and the battery to come out. (bike computer "yard sale" on the trail…..) The slots on the plastic mount are what failed on my wife's computer. We could see that it was broken and the plastic somewhat rounded or damaged in the slots. We have no idea if her unit was damaged when the mount broke as we have no idea exactly where it happened and could not find it when re-tracing our route.
I really do like the size, functions and ease of changing between functions on this unit. I felt it was a great price on sale and loved the added function of temperature reading, which is not a common function. I think this unit is much less likely to fail with less harsh riding conditions such as road or commuting and that is why I still give it 3 stars.
I have replaced the two broken/lost units with Cateye Urban computers to go with a slightly larger display and seem to have a much more robust mount, but have to admit, I do miss being able to scroll through the functions and see how chilly it is or how hot it is.

I would recommend only for road or very mild trail use.

I needed a computer for two things- speed and distance. This computer does both in an accurate manner. Setup was easy. I used the circumference method which turned out to be accurate as measured by car. Really can't beat the price and unit appears to be reliable after 4 months of use.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I am adding to my very positive review from before about the twist lock mount which is not quite as solid as it should be and you can easily knock it off the bike by accident. A simple cure is to cut a piece of electrical tape and mount it to the base of the mount, about 1/2 x 3/4" piece. This makes a big difference and if that doesn't make you happy, put 2 pieces of electrical tape down and you will need a baseball bat to knock it off.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

This is a great basic cycle computer with the added features of a thermometer, calorie estimator, and mileage indicator to the hundredth of a mile (.01). It's is a nice update of the earlier model Tempo/E3 I purchased from BikeNashbar several years back.

The thermometer is accurate except in direct sunlight where it may display an inflated temperature.

One minor anomaly: Although the odometer is extremely accurate for overall mileage in my experience, and accurate at 1/4 and 1/2 mile distances, not all hundredths of a mile are identical. As displayed on the computer, some hundredths take a shorter distance to advance to the next higher hundredth and some a longer distance. But, this anomaly does not effect the overall mileage, nor its accuracy at 1/4 and 1/2 mile distances.

How could this Tempo be improved? Add a compass, altimeter, and "bread crumbs" at the same great price.

I put the first one on my city bike. The snap lock for the computer does not feel very tight. Although after a week it has not popped off. That is my concern. It has not that hard to set up. Works well like most of there stuff.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I tried two units and neither worked, so back to Nashbar for a refund (the computer gets one star, but I would give their customer service five stars!). The first Tempo that Nashbar sent me kept losing the signal from the sensor in mid-ride, so I replaced the batteries, and that seemed to help for a few days, and then nothing. They sent a replacement, and that doesn't work either. Other reviews were positive, so I wonder if there's a problem with the most recent manufacturing run...
