Do Not Buy!!

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

Very disappointing. Nashbar usually has good products but this one is terrible. It will work fine once and then not do anything at all. Take battery out and reprogram and it will work once again. Very frustrating. Going to try and return.

Both Computers were defective

  • Poor Construction

Best Uses

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I tried 2 of these computers and both seemed to be defective. And that is a shame as I really liked this computer. It looks great, has great functions, just a cheap internal design. Not sure exactly why it would stop working sometimes during a ride, before I even started a ride, at different times. It would freeze up and you could not rotate through the functions, the current speed would show 0 and the bicycle icon (indicating rotation of the tire) would flash rapidly. It would do this for well over an hour and then all of sudden it would start working again... as if nothing happened. The first time this happened with my first computer I sent it back thinking it was a glitch. Then when it happened with the second computer, I realized either I am doing something wrong, or the entire batch of computers is defective. I didn't want to try a third time so I ordered a Sigma.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I set this up per specs. Used fresh batteries. It worked like a champ.... for about 30 miles. Then started to fail intermittently without reason - mid ride, after stopping at a light briefly. I'm sending mine back, seems a few others have gotten bad units as well.

the interchangable two-bicycle option will be great for use on both my road and mtn bikes. the computer clicks securely in its mount base so i probably won't lose it like the other brand i had. and as a fun extra - i get a readout of calories. i've set the temp reading on centigrade to help me adjust to worldwide measurements. Next, i'll brave it and set the miles in metric. at 72, it's one step at a time, baby.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I have a Sigma computer and a Bontrager computer. They are keepers, this Nashbar computer is not. A friend sold it to me, new. I find the font a bit small to read. The screen has a wavy appearance at times, and in my case, it stops recording when it feels like. This is the fault of the computer and not the fault of the install. Perhaps mine is a fluke, but I am giving it back to my friend and replacing it with a new/basic Sigma computer for a few dollars less. The Nashbar seems like a cheap knock-off, in my opinion.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I've been using these for years, and break them or lose them from time to time. I'd replace them with like articles because I was generally satisfied with the product. Now Nashbar seems to have gotten a bad batch. The last three I've received consistently FAIL under use. They freeze up after 40 kilometers or so, and stop displaying speed or recording distance travelled. Most annoying!

          Battery fails with no warning

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Wireless Bike Computer:

I've got 3 of these, and with extra mounting kits I have purchased, switch the head units for use on 6 bikes. Found out recently that the battery dies without warning. As usual, I tried to reset to clear the data from the previous ride, but the screen showed 'Clear" then just went grey. OK, the 2032 batteries don't last forever, but for them to give up without warning is a real cheap-out flaw in the design. I know at least some brands show low-battery warnings. So you may want to change both batteries regularly (yearly?) or risk losing your overall mileage. HTH.

I previously owned an expensive computer and found that replacement parts for my Cateye cost almost as much as 3 of these Nashbars which has nearly the same features.
