Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights
Stay cozy this chilly season. The Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights provide extra insulation to keep you warm for those days in the saddle that are downright frigid. The soft, brushed interior fabric is optimized for warmth and since nothing puts a damper on cold weather riding like clammy skin it also wicks moisture away like a champ to keep you dry and comfortable. The multi-density Coolmax chamois, too, is superb at wicking moisture away from your skin all the while providing plush comfort for as many miles as the legs and lungs allow. The stretch mesh bib uppers ensure a close, comfortable fit while ample 10" locking zippers ensure it's a jiffy to take these bib tights on and off.

Comments about Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights:

In cycling I don't believe that you always get what you pay for. Most clothing is ridiculously over-priced. In this case, you get more than what you pay for! The material, while not very stretchy, is durable and tight knit, making them somewhat wind resistant. The chamois pad is decent. However, they seem to run small. Since there isn't much stretch, I had to size up. I ended up buying several.

Bought these to ride in the winter. Still need to wear a base layer under them. Didnt seem to break the wind as i had hoped. For the price i probably got what i paid for.

Comments about Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights:

I plan to use these for road cycling at some point, yet have only used them in the woods mountain biking. Very comfortable, soft lining. Good below 30 degrees (depending on the level of effort.) These are now my go-to bibs for winter cycling. Found they work even better with unpadded MTB over-shorts. I did have a pair where the subnet broke, but Nashbar cheerfully exchanged it.

I purchase a pair a year ago and have worn them several times. I liked them comfortwise, etc. The last time I washed them the zipper in the leg came apart rendering the tights useless.

Comments about Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights:

I purchased these tights last winter, and used them perhaps 20 times then, plus about 15 times so far this winter. They are holding up well, and provide good protection against wind chill while not being excessively thick. The pad thickness and placement suit me well, although pad characteristics seem to be a matter of personal preference. The sizing was accurate. The leg length is about 1-2 inches longer than I would need, so I end up with a bit of a "crumple" above the shoes, but that's better than being too short.

Comments about Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights:

Ordered Large. I'm 5'10" and 195 lbs. Fit well with room to spare. Shoulder straps just a bit loose. Someone with larger toro and thinner legs could probably go down to a Medium.

My experience so far echoes most of the other reviews. These bib tights are an excellent value for the money. Warm, but not mid-winter in New England warm unless you add more layers. Comfortable. The chamois is serviceable. I've only worn them a few times, but one leg zipper has already blown out. That makes me worry about their durability.

Comments about Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights:

I bought these on sale because I needed another pair of winter bib tights in addition to my windproof Gore bib tights. I normally buy Performance brand bib shorts, because I like the fit/feel and especially the chamois; but, it seems Performance doesn't make bib tights, only tights and bib knickers (go figure). Bibs are best in winter--no drooping waist and no back drafts. That said, these are not as high-quality as the Gore bike tights; but, they are less expensive--half the price of Gore. Despite not being promoted as windproof, the fabric, which is napped on the inside, is warm (I have ridden in these in 40 degree temps) and it surprisingly seems to block the wind fairly well. I have not felt chilled. So, in that respect, these exceed my expectations. I'm 6 ft 180 and a size large fits fine and is the right length in the legs and body. Here are my issues: After the first wash, the zipper at the left ankle became separated. I eventually got it engaged again and it seems to function fine (I now no longer unzip the ankle zippers all the way and wash with the zippers closed). BTW, the Gore bib tights don't have ankle zippers and are hard to pull-on over the foot. The bib straps are kind of cheesy feeling and ill-fitting. Still, they function OK. My biggest issue is with the chamois. It has to be the weirdest fitting chamois in the front--almost pouch like. I have to adjust just right and sometimes while riding squiggle on the saddle. I have experienced some chafing and found that I need to use chamois cream--even in the winter (normally I don't). After riding 30-40 minutes, the chamois seems to get "hot" on my butt. Odd, like I've been sitting for a long time. I think it may be caused by either the chamois covering or the chamois may be too wide and covers too much of my butt. Still, I would consider buying these again. Nashbar, a new chamois design would be an improvement.

Comments about Nashbar Mansfield 2 Chamois Bib Tights:

Just ordered my second pair of these. At first I wasn't sure about the bib design as its a bit more effort to go to the bathroom, but pants style tights always seem uncomfortable around the waist, with too much pulling at the back when I lean over. These eliminate that issue and are just more comfortable. I also find the chamois to be good for me. These are now my go to tights for winter riding. They are fine into the forties, and below that I sometimes add a windpoof layer on top, even a pair of running tights over them works well.
