Comments about Blackburn Delphi 3.0 Wired Bike Computer with Cadence - Closeout:

I keep buying this model for all my bikes. A single wire runs to the bottom bracket and than splits for cadence off the crank and speed off the rear wheel. Great for speed and cadence on trainer. Does not get fooled by false signals at traffic lights. Use only one battery. Cheap enough to buy lots of them. Simple installation. Accurate. Looks nice too. Life is easier if all my bikes have the same speedometer whether road or cross or mtb.

I bought two of these and had a problem with one of them having the screen freeze up within a few minutes of using it. But Bike Nashbar exchanged it with no problems. I bought it for the cadence feature and it was the best value for a bike computer with this feature.
I advise to wait for Bike Nashbar sales for an even better deal on this computer!

Comments about Blackburn Delphi 3.0 Wired Bike Computer with Cadence - Closeout:

Saw a lot of comments that just don't apply to the version I got! This is easy to install, the magnets are firmly attached, the wires are robust, and the unit seems pretty solid! At this price its a standout. Beware of contacts where the unit slides on its base, these are always prone to water and need to be cleaned if its operating erraticly. (This is typical of ALL these computers not just this one.) When installing plact the rear wheel magnet at a spoke crossing if possible where it has a better grip and is nearer the hub so the sensor doesnt have to sense something flying by at 40mph. Attach wires with electrical tape or added wire ties which they dont provide. Overall a great device for very little money!

Comments about Blackburn Delphi 3.0 Wired Bike Computer with Cadence - Closeout:

I bought this computer to put on the 1980's Bianchi that I am building for my daughter. I have a Delphi 5.0 on my road bike and use it without the cadence feature on my hardtail. I have not had any problems with it, so I don't think that I will have any problems with the 3.0. Without having it on the bike, the display works fine and using the magnets speed and cadence both work.

I set this thing up, and the cables are large and ugly runing from the front to the rear wheel. It only works some of the time, which might be user error but I'm not sure yet.

Purchased due to need for cadence for training (triathlons) and the low price. You get what you pay for. First unit lasted 7 months then the computer "locked up". Nashbar sent a replacement (I prepayed and they refunded me) which worked for a month. Wired cadence was the only working feature when I replaced it with a Cateye. Wireless speed sensor is finicky and then just quit reading. Batteries/new magnet,etc...nothing helps. Save yourself the hassle and spend the money on a Cateye.

Comments about Blackburn Delphi 3.0 Wired Bike Computer with Cadence - Closeout:

Nashbar's price allows forgiveness of a lot of sins, but I haven't found any deal breakers.
Pro's: price, large speed and riding time displays
large and easily accessed buttons. I bought it for cadence function.
              Cons:
Speed display can be a little erratic, e.g. significant drop for a few seconds, like the speed sensor didn't pick up a couple revolutions.
Pick up is a little picky, but this may be a fault of computers in general.
Distance display does not match another computer that runs at the same time, reads a little low. This may be related to the erratic display problem.
Cadence display is small and hard to read, sometimes in shadow of bezel.
Epoxied ceramic magnet onto crank - more reliable.
              All in all, satisfied

The cadence magnet is just stuck on. It fell off my road bike in less than 3 months and the system essentially became useless.

                  Don't buy this.

Comments about Blackburn Delphi 3.0 Wired Bike Computer with Cadence - Closeout:

After trying a few different brands including the Delphi 3, I've come to the conclusion that no cyclocomputer is durable enough for bike applications, except perhaps for casual biking on good roads in moderate climates. I've encountered the following problems:
Failed wiring in the Delphi 3 after 6 months. Apparently 2 wires shorted out, so the cyclometer no longer can report speed, cadence, or any other trip information.
Failure probably due to heat. These instruments don't like hot or cold conditions.
Sensor failure. Either the contacts or wires break.
Difficulty in reliable positioning of magnets and sensors.
                    Magnet loss.
Cyclometer loss due to being knocked out of the bracket.
Many things can and do go wrong with cyclometers. For me and my riding style, they aren't worth the hassle.
