Not for people whose hands get cold easily.

Comments about Louis Garneau LG Super Shield Gloves:

Used these the first time today with temperature about 41 degrees, sunny, with a strong wind. My fingers started complaining mildly after an hour. Only after I got home did I bother examining the gloves carefully. These have the crazy design of individual fingers within the two mitten parts of the glove. This, of course defeats the strength of mittens that allows fingers to warm each other and eliminates any constrictions that could reduce blood flow. I also noticed that there isn't much insulation between the palm side of the fingers and the outside of the glove. Add the need to hold the handlebar with this side of the glove, and you have a recipe for transferring cold to the fingers. These gloves might work for others with less sensitivity to cold. I don't have Raynaud's, but I am more sensitive than many others.

Comments about Louis Garneau LG Super Shield Gloves:

I'm a commuter and my ride is about 30-40 minutes to work. I just got these gloves and I'm pretty happy with them. I have used them in temps as low 10 degrees F. At that temp, my fingers do get a little cold in the first 15 minutes before my body heats up, but I think the expectation of toasty fingers at 10 degrees might be kind of tall order (I don't know, I haven't had gloves that are better). At 20 degrees they're fine and at 30 degrees my hands do get a little hot, but I wouldn't say that they're swampy. Shifting is no problem if you don't get a size that's too big.

These are not that effective at temps below 32º-- even with glove liners. I was hoping for something better and was rather disappointed.

I just took these gloves for their inaugural ride in MI. It was a sunny 7 degree F day, for a short 7 mile ride on snow-covered roads. These are really warm gloves. I did not get cold fingers. Shifting was easy. Gloves are also quite comfortable to wear. Using the sizing chart, these gloves are true to size. I think I've finally found the perfect pair of gloves for cold winter rides.

Comments about Louis Garneau LG Super Shield Gloves:

I have poor circulation in my hands, so I'm not sure my opinion will help everyone. Bottom line my hands were freezing in 35 degree weather. However, these gloves have worked best so far. The quality is great. They are breathable and not bulky. I worried the split mitt design would make shifting difficult, but I didn't have any trouble with it. I am still looking for a good pair of gloves that will keep my hands warm though.

Comments about Louis Garneau LG Super Shield Gloves:

I bought these gloves because my fingers were going numb below about 28°F with my old heavy ski gloves, even with liners.
These LG gloves seem to get rave reviews elsewhere, and they look very well made; but one caveat: I have not actually tried them in the sub freezing temperatures yet. The weather got warmer by the time I bought and received these. Maybe I will get to try them if there is another cold snap, or there is always next year.
They run true to size, but leave no room for any further liners. They fit just a hair snug. I have a 9" palm and bought the Large. It fits "like a glove".

Comments about Louis Garneau LG Super Shield Gloves:

I'm a 60+ cyclist. I've tried a multiple variety of gloves and mittens for cold weather riding. This morning with the temp at 28F I rode for an hour and a half. The first 15-20 minutes my fingers were cool but once my circulation got going my hands and fingers warmed up nicely. The gloves are comfortable, padding adequate and above all, warm. Good investment!!
