        Comments about Nashbar R1 Saddle:

Bought this saddle for its price point and 'relief channel' cutout. Additional factors influencing purchase were its light weight and rounded rear edges of the saddle, and low profile.

Put it on my CX bike for an excellent, lightweight, sturdy saddle I can clear easily on the re-mounts during cross racing.

A moderately priced solution that is serving well. Not top of the line, but offers a solid value that I don't regret for a second!

          Comments about Nashbar R1 Saddle:

I ride for commuting, errands and recreation. The last saddle I bought before this was a Fizik Arione ($150 at today's prices)—this saddle is at least as comfortable in my experience and as energy-efficient i.e., you don't lose energy into the seat the way you do with large padded saddles. I've only ridden rides in the 20-30 miles range so maybe the Fizik would offer more variety of positions than this on longer rides but I'm happy with this and buying another for my second road bike, so I'll have one for commuting and one for recreational rides.

          Comments about Nashbar R1 Saddle:

I bought this saddle for the price, the weight, and the cutout. I commuted a few yes with it and it was great. Then I used it on a 65 mile ride and it seemed great during the ride but afterwards I realized I was numb on the sides of my manhood. I suspect the cutout is not deep, wide, or large enough for my anatomy. I exchanged it for the FR1 which has a much larger cutout.

Aside from numbness, this is a fantastic saddle and looks great on the bike.

            Comments about Nashbar R1 Saddle:

I purchased this saddle for my husband based on the reviews but he found it just as uncomfortable as the OEM saddle that was on the bike when he bought it. It seems to be well made but there was no position or adjustment that would make it comfortable for him (he is 5'9", 185 lbs). It is being returned.

Was going to use on my spin bike this winter and then on my road bike when the weather warms up. It seemed to be a fairly good saddle but it just didn't fit my rear end. We're all a little different so it may be right for you. If it fits you, seems like a good buy.

Bought as an upgrade to OEM saddle. Attractive and light weight, it reduces the numbness associated with typical road saddles. Only got about 35 miles on it...but, so far so good.

                  Comments about Nashbar R1 Saddle:

I bought this to replace an old saddle which fell apart after many, many years of use. At 6 feet & 180 lbs, I was concerned about the small size and limited padding found on the Nashbar R1, but ordered it anyway. This turned out to be a great buy! Well designed, very light and very comfortable, despite the minimal padding. While it is not fair to compare a (very) old, used saddle to a brand new one, I found the new Nashbar R1 much more comfortable than the Avocet saddle it replaced.
