Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals
Sometimes clipless pedal systems are not your number one option for cycling. For instance, the demands of technical mountain bike riding, downhill riding, BMX, winter riding, or simply cruising around town in casual clothes are best served by a platform pedal. Enter the Nashbar Verge. The Verge platform pedal - solid and well-built - delivers some serious bang for your buck. First and foremost, there's a broad, strong, machined alloy body that provides plenty of support. Sealed cartridge bearings ensure these pedals are super-smooth while the replaceable traction pins provide just enough bite to keep your shoes in place on the platform. With all of these features you'll be hard pressed to find a better value anywhere.
  • Machined alloy body is stiff, lightweight and super durable
  • Platform is 3.75 inches by 3.75 inches at the widest and longest points
  • Replaceable traction pins can be removed, swapped out or replaced
  • Sealed cartridge bearings improve wear life and keep mud and grit out of the moving parts
  • Includes spare traction pins

Comments about Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals:

I've only used these pedals for about 100 miles so far, but I'm very pleased with them. I removed my stock plastic pedals after one of them cracked. My feet used to slide around a bit on the old pedals, but the little set screw grips on these work great. The construction of the pedal seems to be just fine, but like I said, I've only used them a bit. I like the way that these pedals are installed from the backside with an alan wrench, very simple.

Comments about Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals:

This is my first time using flat pedals. I bought these and a pair of five ten freerider contact shoes and they work great! They are super grippy and I am not worried about slipping off the pedal at all. It took a bit to get use to at first, especially jumping because I was use to pulling up (cheating) my legs being clipped in to pop off of the lip of the jump. I might not go back to clipless pedals. These are a great price to try out flats. I would highly recommend these.

Comments about Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals:

These were the pedals I choose to put on the Nashbar bees knees. I have zero complaints about these titles. The traction pins are awesome the platform is big enough for anybody's foot very smooth rolling. Feel very stable under your foot. I would recommend these to anyone looking for us salat platform pedal.

Comments about Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals:

The Verge pedals are a good pedal at a great value. They follow the trend of lower-profile platforms for that nice stable feeling, and offer plenty of grip thanks to plenty of screws and a bit of concavity. They're not the largest platform on the market, but plenty big for my size 10 feet.

My biggest complaint is that these use set screws instead of screw-in pins or regular screws threaded in from the back, so they're that much nastier when they meet your shins. The finish gets a bit beat up on whatever I've managed to bash them into on the trail, but that's to be expected for aluminum pedals anyway.

Comments about Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals:

Bought it for my road bike since I hated clipless pedals. I think this still would work best as a MTB pedal as the pedal is really wide, and when making fast cornering the pedal have a high chance of touching the ground since road bike clearance is much lower than on my MTB. It will work for road and hybrid bikes as long as you don't go low on cornering.

Comments about Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals:

I bought these for my commuter bike and I strongly recommend them!

They're durable. They're large and have the screws to grip your shoes, which provides a nice, secure feeling. As you'd expect, the screws dig into your shoes a bit, but it's not bad and I find that my shoes always wear out due to normal use and not due to the screws.

Comments about Nashbar Verge Platform Pedals:

I like these pedals. I am the type of rider who has no interest in clipless pedals, so these are perfect. I like the amount of grip they offer and the Low profile design. They are light enough for me and they seem like they will last. Sealed bearings are a big plus too. I used them to replace replace some old Wellgo BMX pedals on my hardtail trail bike. They do a great job of keep my feet from sliding off when it gets bumpy on the descents. I'm not looking forward to getting hit in the shins with them, but when it does happen it will be worth it.

Excellent wide platform pedals, far superior to stock flat pedals. Has transformed my fat biking in the snow for the better. Easy to orient, put the power down, and jump off when needed. Grub screw grips provide excellent traction for any shoe and the package comes with spares.
