Comments about Nashbar AT2 Mountain Bike:

I purchased this bike last year (2013) for my son and never had any regrets. Great value and have had no issues. He uses it to commute to school.

    Get this bike if:
    1) your want to upgrade your children to an adult bike, but make sure you get the right size;
    2) you want a starter mountain bike.

Some have complained that it's difficult to assemble, but found no problems. However, I feel comfortable changing brake pads on my cars. If you have no mechanical skills, just go to your local bike shop and pay for assembly or don't buy a bike online (I believe all online bike purchases require some assembly).

Biggest con is the bike is heavy. If you are concerned about bike weight, then you're probably a competitive rider and shouldn't be looking at this bike any way.

Very good quality components for the price. Will replace seat and grips. Had some difficulty installing front brake and the fork. There were no assembly instructions.

Great bike all the way around. Carefully unpacking and assembly took just under 2 hours and a few beers. No instructions, but intuitive to assemble. Seat is as soft as a brick, but expected that from other comments. disk brakes pulse. not sure if that is normal or not. cranks are plastic, hope they last. other than that, great bike, smooth and quiet. good looking too.

Comments about Nashbar AT2 Mountain Bike:

I purchased two of these bikes. One was for my wife, who is just learning how to mountain bike. The other is for my son to take to college, and is an avid rider.

These bikes are sturdy and can really take a beating. Right out of the box, they are easy to assemble, and have thus far been easy to maintain.

We had one small problem with the seat post on my son's bike. It bent during one of his rides (no crash or anything). I contacted Nashbar and they sent me a replacement post without any problems.

If you are looking for a good quality mountain bike on a budget I would highly recommend the AT2!

Comments about Nashbar AT2 Mountain Bike:

Great bike for the price. I bought it to replace a bike with a big frame that was way to big, that a bike shop talked me into. I bought the 15" frame. It's not much smaller than my old 17" frame. Seat is very hard and the pedals are a little cheaper. Luckily I am very mechanically inclined because it did not come with instructions and the handlebars were assembled at the factory backwards. It took me about 20 minutes to put together including fixing the factory handlebar mistake. I used to be a competitive tri-athlete (20 years ago) but just wanted to get back into Mountain biking inexpensively. This is a great bike for that!

Comments about Nashbar AT2 Mountain Bike:

Had my Trek 4300 stolen out of my garage last December. Went to replace it, and found the price point went way up. Since I didn't want to spend $800 on a bike I paid $400 for some years back, I kept looking. It took a long time until I stumbled onto an add for the AT2. Great bike in the price range I was looking for. I looked at everything in the $500 or less range, and for the casual mountain biker who rides on road and some off road, this is a good buy. Jet black paint looks awesome!

There is no MTB which contained disk brake and Shimano gears in this price.i had extra 20% off sale promotion. It was very easy to assemble.I did by myself with few tools. One thing you should know it is heavy. However, light weight bikes are expensive. If you want try to ride MTB buy this and than, you can buy better bike when you have good skills.

We bought one for our older son, and it was so good about two years later we just bought a second for our younger son. It's much easier to assemble now. Most parts were pre-assembled, though it came with no instructions, and none were on the web site either. Still, the bikes seem like they will last for a long time.

Comments about Nashbar AT2 Mountain Bike:

I bought this bike for my son. He's about 5'5 and has been using my size 16 front suspension bike. The AT2 was size 15 and he has no top tube clearance. When measured against my size 16 bike, the top tube was lower than my 16 by the seat tube but was 2" higher on the head tube. Its a 3" rise from the seat tube to the head tube. This causes him not to have any clearance when standing on the ground straddling the bike. The AT2 fork is about 1/2" longer. Also, the AT2 head tube is slightly longer. Everthing else is as expected for an entry level bike. I just wish the have ground clearance measurement posted. I guess there is no substitute to a test ride at your local bike shop.

Weekend novice mountain bike trails. I wonder why it did not come with a kick stand? The seat is extreamly hard after my first ride I had to purchase a softer cover or the seat. I receive a Schwinn mountain bike for Christmas and returned it after two outings, real junk vs this bike.
