    Comments about Blackburn Road Mirror:

I already have a mirror that fits on the end of my handlebar, but it jerks around a lot so I was looking for something more stable. Boy, did this NOT fit the bill! First of all, the installation instructions must have been designed by Picasso because I could not visualize how to attach to my bike handle. I finally figured it out, and although it felt unstable, I went for a ride anyway. Within seconds of riding on smooth, fresh asphalt, it wiggled to the point that I could only see sky in the large mirror (the only redeeming value of this item). Sent it back and am waiting on a refund.

Probably the best two-eyed road mirror

    Comments about Blackburn Road Mirror:

For loaded touring (with bar-con shifters), you basically have two options for a rear-view mirror - this one and one of the various sunglass-arm or helmet mounted mirrors. The helmet mirrors are great for lack of jitter and wide field of view, but are all monocular - you can only look with one eye - so distances are harder to judge. This mirror lets you see behind with both eyes, with a very good field of view, so you can both see the lane behind you and the one next to you *and* judge distances quickly.

However, it's not perfect. If you drop your bike on the side with the mirror, about half the time you'll break the attachment arm, and it's not reparable. Because the mirror is attached to the bike, on rough roads, the mirror jitters a lot. This can be so bad on dirt roads that the mirror's only marginally useful. And as others have noted, IF YOU HAVE THE ADJUSTMENT TOO LOOSE, the mirror will change position when you hit a big bump.

Sorry for the shouting, but some of the reviewers don't seem to have noticed that there's an adjustment - a kind of locknut - to lock down the connection between the mirror and the support arm. If you have that nut fairly loose, the mirror will change position easily. If you tighten it down, you can make the mirror only change position on a bump bad enough to potentially damage your wheel. If the mirror changes position too much on bumps, tighten that big plastic nut - it's under a rubber cover at the right end of the mirror. Pull the rubber cover back, rotate the mirror and nut together up, then hold the nut in place as you rotate the mirror back down. Wala - tightened. Repeat if you want it tighter. Put the rubber cover back.

          Comments about Blackburn Road Mirror:

Not worth the bother. I don't know what the other reviewers did to give it the OK ratings. Constantly moves with any bump or vibration. Poorly designed and not tested. You can't get it tight enough to hold it. Blackburn makes some pretty good stuff so I took a chance on it, makes me wonder about them. Look elsewhere.

            Comments about Blackburn Road Mirror:

The mirror has a good range of vision, you can see the entire road and is very helpful on turns. The mirror does not stay pointed very well on rough roads, it vibrates and moves to the outside. It is easy to re-point even while riding.

              Comments about Blackburn Road Mirror:

When riding on narrow roads with average traffic, this mirror is essential so you can see what is coming from behind. The mirror is well made, is easy to install and has an excellent field of view. The only slight drawback is that the setting/orientation of the mirror can change when going over VERY rough roads; but it is easy to readjust.

                Comments about Blackburn Road Mirror:

I am blind in my left eye making it very difficult to look over my shoulder to see traffic behind me. This mirror was just what I needed to feel safe out on the road. The large viewing area lets you see what is coming up behind even with the slight vibration from rough roads. I have had one for years and loved it but recently dropped my bike and broke the support arm. I am buying another now.

                  Comments about Blackburn Road Mirror:

Fits great in many places on my STI hoods and drop handlebars. Large viewing area and easily adjustable.

Dealbreaker! Mirror will not stay in position the joint is too loose and even on smooth pavement will vibrate out of position and you look down and see the sky or the back of the mirror instead of the road behind you. Pretty much worthless.
