Tear up trails clipped in or with the bike on your back in a pair of Lake MX175 mountain biking shoes. There's no replacing the performance and comfort of real leather, and the injected fiberglass outer sole works with the Powerzone forefoot system and keeps the power going to the back wheel where you need it. Recessed cleat area means you can run or walk when you have to, and the BOA push/pull fastening system is secure, comfortable, and super user friendly.
Soft action leather uppers are form fitting and breathable
Fiberglass injection outer sole is stiff and light
Lake Race insole is comfortable an form fitting
Air mesh vent keeps air flowing and moisture down
Toe spike compatible for excellent walking/running (spikes not included)
Side Mounted BOA Push/Pull Lacing System is quick and easy to release
BOA Powerzone in the Forefoot brings extra stiffness/efficiency
Overall, this is a good shoe, but it has two flaws that I see. First Lake has replaced the old lace-and-strap closures with the BOA lacing system. The problem with the BOA system is that after only three rides, one of the ratchet mechanisms is sticky and will not release fully, due no doubt to having dust and mud getting stuck in it. So unless you like to clean these parts every ride, this is not a good design feature. Secondly, the tongue of the shoe is short, which makes getting the shoe on rather difficult, as the BOA system will not let you lift the tongue up. These shoes were chosen to replace my Lake MX165, and sadly they are not as good.
