Nashbar Double Track Pedals
If you designed your perfect all around trail pedal, what would it look like? Probably remarkably like the Nashbar Double Track mountain bike pedals. They're built around a large, beefy alloy body with replaceable screw-in pegs and an SPD-style clip-in system on one side of the pedal. They let you clip in when the trail is fast and smooth, or ride on the platform when things get more technical. They're also ideal for commuting or urban riding. They're like the Swiss Army Knife of MTB pedals.
  • Chromoly axle is stiff and durable
  • Large, alloy pedal body provides a wide, stable area for your foot to push against
  • Shimano SPD SH-51 cleat compatible clip in system lets you clip in for more speed and an efficient pedaling motion (cleats included)
  • Replaceable screw-in pegs for improved grip on non-retention side
  • Drill outs and slots for toe cages and straps
  • Ideal for MTB or commuting

Comments about Nashbar Double Track Pedals:

When visiting a friend in CO, I borrowed a bike to go mountain biking. The bike had these peddles. I found them to be perfect for me. I climbed stronger and easily clipped out and flipped to the platform when feeling a little nervous on the decent. I bought a pair and put them on my commuter bike. I'm going to buy another pair for my mountain bike.

Comments about Nashbar Double Track Pedals:

I used to ride 250 miles a week and also was a mountain biker till i lost my leg. Now i just started riding recreationally and this pedal has been a big help. I can clip in to hold my prosthesis stable or i can just use the platform for a short ride.

Comments about Nashbar Double Track Pedals:

Bought for my wife's nashbar big ol' fat bike. Reviews indicate its not compatible with SPD, but I don't have any issue clipping in with my shoes- who knows what cleats I'm using, but they are certainly SPD compatible. I like the design of the old model of this pedal better- it has 8 set screws rather than 4- but overall- this is a good budget dual use pedal.

          Good idea, marginal execution

          Cons

          • 4 Pins Isn't Enough
          • Flat Side Is Very Small
          • Pins Felt Off On 1st Ride
          • Small Platform Side

          Best Uses

Comments about Nashbar Double Track Pedals:

Been searching for something like this forever. Nashbar's one is lighter than the Wellgo version by 100 grams.

The platform size is like a regular M636 from Shimano. It is way too small for DJ and there is only 4 pins which doesn't glue to the five ten shoes like a true platform. I rode it on the flat side this morning and it simply doesn't come close.

One pin felt off on the first ride on its own.

And despite the warning that said the click out resistance is set at minimal at shipping, I actually had to do three full turns or more to loosen it to a comfortable level. And I have been riding clipless for close to 20 years.

It does allow me to have only one pedal set on the bike instead of switching it around with the spd.

The best part I guess is that it isn't expensive at all.
