Comments about Nashbar Single Track Pedals:

Gotta say these are the best bang for the buck. They are lighter then XT's and half the price. Combo this with the 20%+ coupons and you are crazy not to buy them. They are very light, well made, clip in and out in a pinch and have some float to give you a comfortable ride. You cant use the Nashbar coupons with Shimano stuff most, if not all the time. These are a tad bit more then the M520's and 3 times better of a pedal. I actually use these on two road bikes as I like to have one pair of shoes and pedal style for my MTB, Cross and Road bikes. But if I build a new bike of any type these will be going on them! The finish is as smooth as the bearings spin ;)

Excellent value for the low price. Not the lightest pedal but one doesn't get titanium at this price point.

      New design not as good

Comments about Nashbar Single Track Pedals:

I bought these pedals to replace a 15+ year old set of Nashbar pedals based off the old Wellgo/Ritchey design. My old pedals were starting to bind up on clip out leaving me in the pedal with my ankle in a very awkward angle and vulnerable position. I feel this has to do with a weak ankle as it was on my right foot on the old and new pedals.

It wasn't the cleats or the shoes as I spent hours figuring out what was binding and used both sets of cleats. I think my problem is that I just unclip too smoothly/slowly. They work fine if I have to get out because I'm more forceful but if I try to unclip casually, the cleats get stuck and I go down. No adjustment in pedal tension makes this go away.

I do believe this is more operator error than a problem with the pedals but it does show that these pedals aren't built with the same precision that Shimano pedals are made with as I don't have any problems with those. I believe these will work for most people but I think it's worth warning people.

Comments about Nashbar Single Track Pedals:

The new Single Track Pedal are quite different from the old Nasbar mtb pedal design. The new ones are a it lighter and seem to work as well, but they look a little wierd. My main complaint is that they have redesigned how to tighten the pedal into the crank. Gone are the "pedal wrench relief cutouts." In their place, the pedals are tightened by using a 6mm Allen wrench to tighten the pedals from the frame side of the crank. It works well, but the instructions didn't explain that. Had to call Thomas in the "tech shop" for the heads up. He was cheerful and very helpful, but apparently I haven't bought pedals for long enough that this innovation escaped my notice. All's well that ends well.
