Vredestein Latex Ultralight 700c x 20-25 Road Tube
Here's one of the least expensive performance upgrades you can treat your road bike to, and a rare case of getting more than you pay for. Latex tubes reduce rotational weight and rolling resistance, enhance the suppleness of your ride and resist punctures better than butyl rubber tubes.
  • Incredibly upple and responsive ride (think tubular)
  • Low rotational weight
  • Durable, seamless latex construction
  • 50mm valve stem is compatible with deep profile wheels
Vredestein Latex Ultralight 700c x 20-25 Road Tube
  • WEIGHT 44g
  • SIZE 700x20-25
  • VALVE Removable
  • VALVE LENGTH 50mm
  • VALVE STEM THREADED No
  • Rating 3

Comments about Vredestein Latex Ultralight 700c x 20-25 Road Tube:

I bought these a year ago and they were labelled 50 which is more like 40 or 45 for everyone else. Now the website still says 50 but the box says 60 which makes them fit more rims but also 2 or 3 grams heavier for those of us with 4990 gram bikes.

3 stars because I have no reason to say they are great or terrible. they do not tolerate imperfections in rim strips or tires as well as butyl. It is very hard to find holes but if you have a junk latex tube for patch material they are trivial to patch.

Good inner tube, although looses pressure quickly (1 bar per day). A little fragile where the valve is integrated into the tube

Have tried various brands & this works the best for me. Had to go from the Michelim Pro3 race to the Pro4 endurance. Using the latex tubes reduces the overall weight between the pro 3 and pro4 tire.

Comments about Vredestein Latex Ultralight 700c x 20-25 Road Tube:

I love these tubes. I plan on buying more. However, the last few I've bought have had a problem that I've heard is common to latex tubes by Hutchinson as well. They develop tiny sakebite-looking holes right where the latex joins the valve stem assembly, especially where the tube rejoins itself at the seam. I have two patches on each tube, front and back, and now they're great. Kinda frustrating. Hopefully, your experience will be 100% positive -- maybe I just got a bad batch.

Comments about Vredestein Latex Ultralight 700c x 20-25 Road Tube:

I know and love these tubes, but these are advertised as 48mm stems, and I'm pretty sure they're 60mm. The exposed stem length measures 55mm to the tip of the needle, without including the rubber skirt at the bottom. Add the rubber skirt and it's 60mm. Nashbar tech got back to me and said they measured them, and they're 50mm ..... well, mine are NOT!! Nashbar's own butyl tubes are said to be 48 (or 50?) mm, and they ARE as advertised. I guess this is a quibble, but if you're fussy about the length, be advised that the ones I got are definitely longer than 48/50mm. That might be a good thing for you, but I'd have preferred 42mm, was willing to compromise on 48/50, but these are just too much more length than I need, they're going back. Still, Vredestein latex are the class of the field, I'll buy them again when I can get the stem length right. I can't explain why Nashbar's measurement is different than mine, but I'm RIGHT!!

Be a bit skeptical when purchasing "discounted" products!!!! Could be old, blemished, lesser quality. Bought the latex tubes to run in my vittorio a open corsa's. Make sure make sure make sure you prep pump the tubes a few times to make sure the tube isn't defective. The first of my 2 tubes had a huge aneurism in it when pumped up. I couldn't work the air through three tube and knew there was going to be a problem once installed!! Sure enough....70 pounds in and ....BOOM!!! That was a waste of money. Will not buy latex from nashbar on discount. Too much hassle to send back!
