Comments about Nashbar Alpe D'Huez Pedals:

I purchased my first set many years ago. The only reason I updated was I could no longer get the cleats. The 9 degrees of float helps with my knee comfort. I have really enjoyed these.

Good petals for the price, bought these to replace my 105 Shimano petals. The bearings went out on my Shimano's, bought Nashbar brand for the price. I've had very good experiences with Nashbar products, comparable to brand names at a lower price. I only have a couple hundred miles on these petals, we will see if they last longer than the brand name ones. I like the petals.

Comments about Nashbar Alpe D'Huez Pedals:

I have been using MTD cleats for many years. I mostly bike to work and back. The install was easy and adjustment is easy, down right effortless. These and the new shoes were a great combination for me. Very sturdy, if having low mass impact is your need these are your pedals. Adjustment to the new pedal insert is simple. A few rides and you will understand the technique quickly. One of the best pluses about this purchase is the Nashbar guarantee. I find my self purchasing more genuine Nashbar than the other options.

Needed new pedals and cleats so based on the great reviews for these low priced pedals what's to lose in giving them a try. After about 300 miles so far they have worked out perfectly!

Comments about Nashbar Alpe D'Huez Pedals:

I replaced my SPD pedals with these and I wish I would have bought these sooner. Very easy to clip and unclip without slipping a pedal. My rides require a lot of stops so ease of clip in/out is a must.

Comments about Nashbar Alpe D'Huez Pedals:

As all other reviewers remarked, these are indeed extremely lightweight compared higher-priced pedals, and seem to be LOOK KEO clones.
So, I made the mistake to buy 2 pairs. I decided to post a review after a few hundred miles, though...
As it turned out, this was a good idea. In short, they won't last you one way (cleats) or another (pedals).

              Cleats:
As another reviewer mentioned (see NB LOOK cleat reviews), KEO/LOOK cleats are not compatible, and NB does not offer any replacement cleats. So, you must buy new pedals once the rather soft cleats are worn out. And you cannot change the float if your knees require this.

              Lousy bearings/axle quality:
Pair #1 has seen 1000ish miles of no rain, and both pedals have about 1-1.5 mm play within the axles. Annoying click sounds when pedaling harder, too.

Pair #2 has seen 600ish miles, and the right pedal's ball bearings are crunchy. The left pedal seems to be the only one of 3 that is not defective yet.

Both pairs will go back for sure. I strongly recommend to stay away from these pedals despite the many great (early) reviews.

Luckily, NB has a much appreciated life-time warranty!

I wanted to switch from toe-clip pedals and give the clipless world a try . I chose these pedals because they got great reviews and I have a lot of faith in Nashbar products . I only have a couple of rides on them , but like them a lot ; it was easy to get used to clipping-in , and I do feel they are helping me be more efficient .All you need to install them is a 8mm wrench and they are very light and seem well constructed !
