When we first got our mitts on the Garmin Edge 810, we were immediately tempted to "accidentally" run over our old Garmin so we could have an excuse to get one. Garmin listened to a lot of user feedback about the 800, and the new and improved 810 incorporates all the things we wished we'd seen in the previous model. In addition to Garmin's peerless GPS technology, you also get Bluetooth connectivity that lets you tether the device to the Garmin app on your smartphone for real time data uploads, live-tracking and social network sharing. The phone can also push weather updates to the 810's screen, so you know when it's time to pull over and put on the rain cape. It also lets you customize an activity profile so you get different data displays depending on the type of training or riding you do that day.

I bought the 810 mostly because I was tired of poorly marked rides and vague cue sheets. The ability to plan and upload a course is fantastic; as is the unit's turn by turn direction ability. If I were to find a fault with course navigation it would be to say that if you go of course you are unlikely to be navigated back onto your course. The unit will plot the fastest way to your end-point, but that isn't necessarily the ride you had planned.
Having the ability to add on ANT+ sensors for speed/cadence, HRM, and power are also real pluses for those looking to monitor their fitness and performance. The virtual training partner is also a great measure of performance against previously run courses, etc. And finally, all your performance information is uploaded to Garmin Connect which provides you a great training/mileage log.
Another great feature is that multiple bike profiles allows the unit to be easily switched between multiple bikes (and it comes with two basic mounts).
All in all, very happy with the product and glad I bought it!!!
