Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

The 700X28's that I bought ride super smooth and are wearing well with no flats after a few hundred miles. If Installing them the first time was a struggle, so If I had to do it again, I might get the wire bead models.

Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

The 700x32 is a great tire for urban/street riding, particularly in areas with lumpy pavements. Have used on a cross bike for city riding and have been impressed with their durability and toughness. With no functional tread, you need to be careful on dirt, gravel, loose surfaces.

Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

You have to accept some modest additional weight and rolling resistance, but these almost eliminate flats in all but the most extreme situations. Great for training or long rides >40 mi. where you don't want to bother with fixing flats.

Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

So, I started the winter on GP GT. They ride great, almost like summer tyres. But they get cut up like crazy and absorb broken glass. After 500 miles and too many flat repairs, I'm back to gators. They are great in the wet, resist glass and flints, but ride harsh. At this point, they are the only thing I will put on the winter commuter.

Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

I needed new tires on my commuter and I wanted a durable tire. I also didn't want one that weighed too much. This fit the bill. I've been using these since the spring, ~4000 miles, and they have worked really well for me. I've not gotten a flat yet. The front tire looks to have lots of life left, the rear tire has a flat spot, but is still going strong. The only negative is that they don't roll quite as fast as an all out racing tire. Otherwise the grip is good and the longevity to weight compromise is really good. I just got a set to put on my new commuter bike.

Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

I've been using Gatorskin 28s on our tandem for a few years. Once I got the inflation pressures right I stopped having pinch flats, and the only puncture flats I have had were from thorns in New Mexico. In my normal riding here in PA, not a single flat in over two years. I recently replaced one with the folding version which is a bit lighter, much easier to store or take on a trip, and went on the rim nicely.

Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

Kentucky roads are varied with suprise debris, rumble strips, maybe the occasional mid gravel road to a secluded pasture to watch the deer feed. I have found these tires to be forgiving when i'm staring instead of watching out for glass, nails, wire. I have 3500 miles on a set and the tread pattern is still visible.

excellent slick type tire. Great grip and I recommend using a wide a tire as you are comfortable with along with a commensurately wide rim.

Comments about Continental Gatorskin Road Tire:

I've got 4000 miles out of a Gatorskin on the front and over 3000 on the rear. My last rear never had a flat for 3000mi. The only reason for change after 3000 miles was that I had ridden the rubber off down to the woven poly layer.

Rode St. Paul to Chicago and was the only rider in the group not to have a flat, all rode Conties but I had the only gatorskins. Just bought a set of 28s after riding 32c's for the last few years.
