Comments about Nashbar Tempo Double Wireless Cycling Computer:

Great price for a wireless computer with cadence. Display is larger and easier to read than Cateye or small competitor models. Fits perfectly on a stem. Love having three readouts on one screen-cadence, speed, and distance. Everything easily resetable after a ride. Don't let complaints about reading display scare you. Had no trouble seeing digits even with sun at my back and shades on. Could it be brighter?...sure, but still visible enough. Super easy to lineup the unit, sensor, and magnets.

Nice computer for home training

By Norman

About Me Avid Cyclist

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Double Wireless Cycling Computer:

I wanted a computer for my stationary trainer, and this has fit the bill quite nicely. First, it was simple to install. Second, I really like the cadence monitor. I don't know what cadence I trained at prior to this, but I do keep seeing myself push just that little bit harder so I can get a higher number. I do feel more worn out, and am grabbing more water during my daily training session, so until I have this long enough to quantitatively say that pushes me enough, I'll say the circumstantial evidence is that my workout is seeing benefits just from this device. Plus, it's nice to compare my speeds on my spin trainer to my road bike. I don't really like the zip ties for the mounting, so this wouldn't make me happy for my road bike since they can move a bit, but for indoor training on my dedicated bike,it's great.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Double Wireless Cycling Computer:

I've only used it for a few weeks now, but I mostly like it a lot. It gives me the display I'm looking for (cadence + time + speed) at a glance, rather than constantly scrolling and/or doing math while I ride. The display is a little harder to read in direct light than my previous one, but that's not too much of a problem - it's designed to look straight down on, which I don't do as I ride a recumbent. I wish there were a wired version of this one - I've never used a wireless, and to me the transmitter seems awfully clunky and could be easily banged, though I've nothing to compare it with.
No ideas about durability, waterproof-ness, or battery use.

The cadence magnet on the pedal came off the first ride. The magnet on the spoke was bulky, I replaced it with a smaller magnet. I do like the unit for its cumulative distance and time features. Also a good training tool.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Double Wireless Cycling Computer:

I finished installing the unit last night and took it out for the first run this morning. All worked well and the readouts seem accurate. The computer could use some more back light, but it was overcast today. My main complaint deals with the installation directions. There should be a listing of parts. Some parts were not addressed in the directions, so I guessed as to their use. Programming the wheel size was a bit difficult, the directions aren't complete/clear. I wish I kept track of what I did so I can pass it on to others. The magnets and transmitter could be attached better. Zip ties parts are not as secure as they could be. My chain stays are not round, more diamond shaped, which makes it difficult to attach the transmitter securely. I'm working on a fix. I did find it easier to secure the cadence magnet first, then mounted the transmitter, then the speed magnet and adjusted the speed sensor.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Double Wireless Cycling Computer:

This does everyting that I want with full time windows to display cadence and speed plus full size window for display of choice.
Since cadence varies so widely because of coasting, uphills, et. al., I don't find that display particularly useful, but will check current cadence to make sure it is appropriate for conditions.
The transmitter is probably coded to the display, which is good, but seems to loose the connection occasionally between uses. I've had to take the head off the mount and hold it near the trahsmitter unit to be close enough to make the connection. In addition, although Nashbar does provide manuals for a number of products on-line, I couldn't find one for this product. An auction side vender sells a differentialy banded product and I was able to get a manual from their site. . The manual issue is reason for downgraded rating.

I really like the wireless and cadence part of this computer. This is the first computer I have used with the cadence feature and it is a great buy if you can't afford the high dollar computers. The screen can seem fairly dim at certain angles but I have not found it to be a deal breaker.
