Nashbar Trekking Bike
Trekking feels better when you're on a lightweight aluminum frame, an excellent suspension fork, Shimano drivetrain components, and 24 speeds of climbing, top-end, and long distance options.

The Nashbar Trekking Bike brings together all the best of the cycling world. You get nice, big 700c wheels for efficiency, control, and obstacle clearing, but you also get slick tires that are skinnier than mountain bike tires so you can still assault roads and streets without losing all your energy in the tires. Plus the Suntour suspension fork means you're ready for a little off-road, curb hopping, and gravel/dirt path riding when it suits you.

The Shimano Altus/Acera drivetrain gives you quick, efficient, and low-maintenance shifting...so you're never left skipping gears on a steep climb; and alloy riser bars and stem keep you more upright in the saddle so it's always comfortable on your joints and back.

  • Aluminum frame is lightweight, strong, and corrosion resistant
  • Suntour 700c fork gives you 50mm of travel to absorb road bumps comfortably
  • Shimano drivetrain is smooth, responsive, and dependable
  • Upright geometry keeps you more upright for better riding comfort
  • Slick 700c tires are efficient and smooth on roads, gravel, and dirt
  • Mountain bike style bars provide excellent control and 360 degree visibility

Comments about Nashbar Trekking Bike:

I use this bike for rides between 20-40 miles. I'll be using it this summer for a 100 Mile ride. This bike is light, comfortable, and feels incredibly agile with the 700m tires. The brakes need a little adjustment out of the box, as you would expect with any bike. The front break comes un-assembled and you have to put it on yourself. No instructions on how to actually put the bike together, just a bunch of info sheets on what the pieces of the bike do. However, if you have ever picked up a wrench in your life, you will figure out how to put this bike together. Needs very minor adjustments out of the box but comes nearly completely assembled. OUTSTANDING job by the Nashbar team with shipping. This baby was wrapped in more padding than an NFL player and took me about 30 minutes with a Allen key to put together. Actually took me longer to unwrap than to put it together. Great job shipping. Front shocks work wonderfully, as does the seat shock. The front handlebars had to be adjusted as they were installed backwards at the factory but once again, if you know what a wrench looks like, you can figure it out. The derailleurs need adjustment too but work 95% correct out of the box. Couldn't have been happier with this bike. Great little thing, this bike. Once again, great job Nashbar, if I ever need bike stuff again, you will be my people.

One of the best bikes I've ever rode, love since day one,I had to adjust front derailleur and brakes, for me light enough and fast enough, breaks are actually better than on my stolen hybrid Diamondback stolen from my garage,I'm glad now it was stolen because this bike change my life in my 50's.Riding 20 to 60 mile almost daily including mountain biking...

        Comments about Nashbar Trekking Bike:

I bought this for my son. I really like the bike. It is very nicely built for the price. It can keep up with my street bike but is also able to go off the road. The front brake cable did not come attached and I had to spend time figuring this out. The instructions on assembly are non-existent so that was a little bit of a pain. I would buy it again.

Wanted something a little more versatile an casual than my road bike. This fits the bill perfectly. Now I can be more relaxed and comfortable around town and save the road bike for more serious riding. Good product and good price (waited until it was on sale). Very happy with this purchase.

Coming from a specialized I was skeptical, but I'm completely satisfied with the quality of this bike. It's well worth your time to go through the bike and tune it up, but I have no problems riding it 60 to 70 miles at a time. It's solid, strong, and comfortable.

I bought this bike for comfort around town and light trail riding. I own 3 other bikes for road and mountain. It appears to be a great bike for the price. If you have never adjusted your own brakes or derailleurs DO NOT BY THIS BIKE! THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS. GO TO THE LOCAL BIKE SHOP. If you have basic bike skills it is easy to assemble. As for riding I don't know as snow around me won't thaw for 2or3 months. Nice bike for the price.

Great components for the price. Assembly instructions were weak, but it was so easy to assemble, it didn't matter. Hint: when you assemble the front brake, look at the back brake. I love the bike. I'm 64 years old and need to transition from the road bike over time.
