Exustar SM822 Mountain Shoes
Just because you're riding around on clipless pedals doesn't mean you need uber-technical footwear. The Exustar SM822 mountain bike shoes come pretty close to looking just like your normal, everyday footwear...but with a recessed 2-bolt cleat mount in the sole. With a natural suede leather upper, breathable mesh panels and a lace up closure, these shoes are super comfortable for just every day wear. The sole is flexible for walking, with a standard tread pattern so it's easy to get around off the bike. The toe area has a stiffened shank and a 2-bolt cleat mount to make pedaling efficient and easy. These are perfect for more casual riders, cycle touring and commuting.
  • Flexible sole with rubberized tread makes walking off the bike easy
  • Stiffened shank and cleat plate allow you to install a 2-bolt cleat for use with clipless pedals
  • Lace up closure with hook and loop strap provides a stable, secure, customized fit
  • Natural suede leather and mesh upper is comfortable and highly breathable
  • Ideal for commuting, touring, and casual cycling

Comments about Exustar SM822 Mountain Shoes:

I bought these shoes for when I am out biking with the kids and need to walk around once we reach our destination. They aren't ugly, but they do run a little big. Order 1 size down. I will probably also use these for winter riding when it is very cold as there is a good tread on them and they are made of leather, so they will stay warmer than my mountain shoes. For the price, they are excellent.

Comments about Exustar SM822 Mountain Shoes:

The EXUSTAR shoes are worth every penny. I've owned mine for 3 months and taken them on 1 tour. So far haven't tested them in the rain (they are not advertised as waterproof.) Comfortable, but on the heavy side. I ORDERED 1/2 SIZE DOWN (regular size is EUR 45, for these I ordered 44.)

Comments about Exustar SM822 Mountain Shoes:

Very pleased with the shoes. Not terribly heavier than the shoes I replaced, but not what you'd want for say, racing. However they are perfect for casual MTB or a commuter shoe you can also walk in. More comfortable than I was expecting, good laces with even tension when tightening, and the important Velcro top strap to keep them snug and manage the laces. Good buy!

Comments about Exustar SM822 Mountain Shoes:

Heavy? Kind of. But I buy for durability, not weight, so a few extra grams on a 32lbs steel bike with a 210lb rider is a drop in the bucket!

I'd compare these shoes as step above the last pair of Specialized Tahoe shoes I purchaced five years ago. They have significantly less ventilation, which I prefer. Here in N/E Pennsylvania, my feet are too cold mdore than they're too hot by about five to one.

My only actual issue is the soles have a larger profile than any other shoe I've used and it took a bit of extra adjusting of the cleats to prevent my right heel from making contact with the drive-side chainstay. But that's it- and it's an easy fix. Just be aware of it when adjusting.

Quite honestly, even if they were lousy, at this pricepoint, you wouldn't be out much scratch. But the truth is, these are an excellent choice for those of us more concerned with durability and functionality than weight.

I bought a second pair before the price goes up!

Comments about Exustar SM822 Mountain Shoes:

I second the other comments re: the shoes being heavy and stiff, yet good value. I had to go down a size to get the right fit. Normally I wear EUR 45 but for these shoes EUR 44 was the right fit. Am happy with my purchase so far after 1 week riding in them.

These are my first pair of biking shoes so I went with a lower cost option. They have absolutely met my expectation so far. They were a bit tight when I first put them on but I rode 36 miles and they were very comfortable they entire time.
