Usually cycling shoes are fairly ridiculous once you get off the bike. Either you're left awkwardly clip-clopping around, or you look like you borrowed your grandfather's orthopedic shoes. Fortunately, Exustar stepped into the game with their SRT707 Touring Shoes and brought some class and sophistication to the game. The upper is a full grain leather in a classic, lace up style that wouldn't have looked too out of place on the greats of the peloton of years past. The style is perfect for everything from everyday cycling use to wearing at the office. The fiberglass soul is plenty stiff for commuting or touring, and is flexible enough to make walking easy. The rubberized outsole means you can actually walk like a normal person when you're off the bike. These are ideal for people who commute or tour and don't like to carry a second pair of shoes around with them.
Full grain leather upper is soft and comfortable, and can be shined with ordinary shoe polish to keep your hooves looking classy
Lace up closure system allows for a comfortable, nearly customized fit and makes walking easier
Fiberglass-reinforced nylon soul is stiff enough to make pedaling easier and more efficient, but flexible enough so you can walk comfortably off the bike
Rubber outsole gives excellent traction and comfort when off the bike
Recessed cleat attachment area will accommodate most two-bolt systems
This simple black shoe looks exactly like the inconspicuous cycling shoe I was hoping for to use when i want the performance/reliability of road pedals without the goofy look of road or even most casual spd shoes--i.e. getting to and from hhr after work. unfortunately the plasitc-y materials used (think kids' soccer cleats), combined with a poor-fitting shoe upper, and i have regular-shaped feet, i think, make for uncomfortable riding or walking. short trips are fine, but i wouldn't buy these again if there's another similarly inconspicuous option. soles are nice and stiff, though.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
It's hard to find any kind of decent shoe at this price point much less one as specialized as this. I love the leather and the full=length lacing makes for a great firm fit. I think the retro look is very cool. The sole is stiffer than I expected which is obviously great for the bike. Walking is comfortable enough but I wouldn't go hiking in these. The sole can be slippery on smooth wet surfaces. I can hear a slight click from the SPD cleats on a hard floor. I'm a 10W and the 44 fits perfectly. If you're not into mountain biking or wearing loud Lycra outfits these are a great choice.
