Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

I got these so that my toes wouldn't freeze during cold weather/winter mountain biking. I wore them last night in the pouring rain (I live in the Pacific Northwest), puddles several inches deep; mud, mud and more mud. It was great. Boots stayed dry inside and toes stayed dry for quite a while (about an hour), but, eventually with all the rain and splashing, the water worked its way into the boot, but, much better than my spring/summer shoes. Temps were in the low 40's. I will be riding through the winter and feel these will work great in colder weather.

I read reviews and got a size one larger than I usually wear (46 instead of 45) and the fit seems to be just right with a thick sock, with a bit more room for a thicker sock if I need it.

Boot seems pretty durable and dried out quickly after my ride (hosed them off and set them in front of a fan). Good stiff sole. I use Crank Brothers Candy pedals and used the metal shim to mount the cleat. Clearance was just right.

I've never used the BOA lacing before so we will see how they hold up. Seems to work fine. It will take some time as the boot breaks in to know how much I need to tighten them before riding. I had to stop several times to adjust them last night (mostly to tighten them).

They didn't come with spikes to mount to the boot tip but there are holes for them. I had an extra set so added them to the boot for extra traction.

Also, the boots came with a little T6 star driver in a bag talking about the BOA laces; I have no idea what it is for.

Overall I think this was a great buy.

Bought these for the mucky, colder conditions. They are great. I like the boa, you can adjust the upper and lower sections seperately.

I wear a 44 Sidi and bought a 45 to wear an extra sock or one thick sock. It gave me extrs room but not too much, as to be sloppy.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

This is my second pair of Lakes. I like the higher style for ankle support. The previous pair used a rear zipper and Velcro straps which lasted 2 seasons before the zipper wore out. These use a ratchet system that I also use on my gloves and it is quick and easy to tighten. Overall great boots and the price was very competitive.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

I have ridden in cold steady rain for better part of an hour without getting wet or cold feet. I have also ridden over 25 miles in mid 20's f without getting cold feet.
Based on reviews I bought one EU size bigger than my other shoes and like the fit.
My only concern is the durability of the lace system. It is handy but only time will tell whether it will hold up well.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

I always have cold feet, and have not had much success below 40° even with shoe covers. These allow me to ride in much chillier weather. I rode for an hour and 15 minutes last week at 27°, and the cold was just starting to seep into my feet. Easily could have rode another 45 minutes or an hour.

I wear size 10.5 street shoes and bike shoes, which translates well to size 45 Specialized or Shimano summer shoes. I bought these in size 46 which is perfect for use with a heavy pair of socks. Definitely buy at least a half size bigger than you normally wear.

It will be interesting to see how long the BOA system lasts. This is my first experience with it. It works great, but I'm a little skeptical about it's long term durability. The shoes are easy to get on and off, and are easy to walk in. Love them.

I have worn Lake shoes and know to size up which I did. That still wasn't enough for me. This style is very small in sizing for me and I could have sized up another size and maybe two. I would suggest ordering two sizes to see which fits best.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

purchase this product to replace another pair of Mountain shoes. However, sizes are not consistent apparently between manufactures. I currently have a size 46 Specialized which are slightly large so purchased size 45 Lake. The size 45 are more similar to Specialized 42.
Really would be nice to have a consistent size chart across the board for online ordering.
bought these shoes at a reduced price and now with the shipping back and forth are starting to climb up to regular price.
Thinking I should have stayed with my local bike shop.
ordered a new size, will give review if the new size works out.
